A Hidden Greek Gem at Eastern Market – Mitsos is a Culinary Love Letter to Greece

If you’re searching for an unforgettable dining experience rooted in authenticity, heart, and flavor — Mistos Greek Restaurant at Eastern Market is an absolute must. Family-owned and operated, Mistos brings the soul of Greece to every plate, with dishes that speak of tradition, passion, and generations of culinary wisdom.

The moment you step up, you’re met with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels more like being invited into someone’s backyard than a restaurant. The hospitality is genuine, and the pride in their heritage shines through not just in their service, but in every bite.

Let’s talk food — starting with their gyros, which are nothing short of divine. Perfectly seasoned, tender meat wrapped in pillowy pita and topped with fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki — it’s the kind of gyro that ruins you for all others.

And then there’s the fried feta — a brilliant combination of crispy, golden edges with a warm, creamy center that melts on your tongue and leaves you wondering how something so simple can be so utterly transcendent.

But the crown jewel? The loukoumades. These heavenly Greek doughnuts are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and drizzled with just the right amount of honey and cinnamon. They’re the kind of dessert that makes you close your eyes and lose yourself for a moment. A must-try, no matter how full you think you are.

Mitsos is not just a restaurant — it’s an experience. One that transports you straight to a sun-soaked Greek village with every dish, every smile, and every detail. Whether you’re a Greek food enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Mistos will leave a lasting impression.

Don’t walk — run. Your taste buds...

Mom and I came here for the first time. Ordered a chicken gyro, grilled chicken sandwich, order of fries , and a cup of soup with soda🥤

Now, I was pretty hungry, but that chicken sandwich tasted like mint, but no marinade, no seasoning, just mint. Not impressed. Needs an actual marinade..

Fries, I'm a fry connoisseur. These are a thin fry that feels and tastes natural cut, as if they are cut fresh on site.

The gyro, I'm not a fan of the meat cones. But other than it being a bit too much tzatziki sauce Mom seemed to have enjoyed it.

The soup , a bit over done , but soup might be a bit hard to gauge, keeping it hot all the time and never knowing who's going to order or not . Good taste, and the lime/lemon very apparent.

The donuts, pretty plain, they taste like little balls of dough. That honey , cinnamon glaze isn't really doing it for me. Just a little improvement

They also have an array of coffee drinks from a fancy machine. I'd go there again, maybe check out breakfast options next time.

Overall enjoyed our experience tho, Clover, Jeff, and the other guy were all very accommodating , with good conversation. Much success in...

Great little spot in Eastern Market..Truly the best Gyro I’ve ever had…oh and the traditional honey glazed donuts were just as delicious! Owners really seem to care about everyone that walks in their doors!

Updated: went to eastern market Saturday and had to visit this place again. After a couple months since my first visit was glad to see they were super busy..this guarantees me they’ll stay and continue to provide amazing authentic Greek 🇬🇷 food. We had breakfast before we headed out to the market and got the breakfast pitas which were amazing, some amazing Greek donuts .. and honestly the best iced coffee I’ve ever had. We were hungry again after our day at the market and went back for lunch.. I know a bit much, but not sure when we’ll make it back and we had to have one those gyros .. we also had there cheeseburger.. OMG .. who knew a Greek place could make an amazing cheeseburger 🍔!! Awesome!! This family is so welcoming. I wish it were closer, I’d be...

Limited seating with barstools and counter made it hard to find a spot to devour. There was one picnic table outside but it only held 6 people at a time and there was already 2-3 groups occupying. Inside was also taken. We are on a bench outside of the restaurant but it was hard to not drop and spill my food (it was super windy today too). HOWEVER— probably the best traditional and chicken gyro I’ve tried. It’s hard to find chicken gyros where I live I can only ever seem to find lamb and beef. The gyros come with fries but the fries or on top of the gyro and there’s like 6 fries so it’s not really like a side of fries fyi. Glad we ordered a side of fries. The avgolemono soup was very good, I prefer it made with orzo instead of the rice which gets a little too soggy. However I’ve definitely had worse from restaurants. This place was pretty busy so be prepared to think about what you want to order, and where you want to eat it if there’s no tables around.
