My daughter used our vehicle earlier this month and the transponder didn't register at the Dover location. This occurred previously with another of our transponders. This was a $1 toll and the total cost for the violation was $51. We appealed and got the penalty waived.

The current toll amount was also $1. My wife had to go in for surgery during the middle of October, is still in recovery and we lost track of the violation. Because we didn't pay it by October 28, there is an additional penalty of $37, for a total of $88, Please remember that the original toll amount was $1. I would feel better if they had a thief standing in the middle of the road and robbing me of the $88. Government is supposed to serve the people. This is far from serving, in my opinion. This government operation needs to be brought under control. Reminds me of someone reminding me years ago that the government has neither a brain nor a heart. These fees are "highway robbery." No pun intended.

The ezpass system is convenient when traveling, but I have an issue with their automatic replenishment system. You are not able to specify an automatic replenishment amount lower than your average monthly useage. You can specify a lower amount if you do it manually. When I inquired about being able to have a lower auto replenishment amount, I was told it was not possible, after several email communications with them. Seems that their IT Department or contractor would be competent enough to program the system to accept smaller automatic replenishment amounts. I am on a fixed income, and the smaller amounts would greatly help me to stay in the positive. I get a lot of negative balance emails from the system. Seems that it would be more efficient to accept smaller replenishment amounts, than sending the negative balance emails. Just...

Received my first notice to pay them a $4 toll. The "violation" was in June. Apparently my ez pass didn't scan. Took them 2 months to notify me and charge me the $4. Except there's FIFTY dollars of bogus fines on there. Called to appeal it, they hung up on me, called back, she said it's a fine for failure to pay. But this was my first notice to pay, I would have happily paid the $4 I owe 2 months ago, but they didn't notify me until now. I never refused to pay. I would have paid them promptly if they just told me and were reasonable, but now this is dragged out more because I have to MAIL an appeal. No phone or web option.

How is that sane? They just hide behind the state and pretend it's not them... Yet they are acting on behalf of the state so what difference does that even make? It's obviously an extremely broken system. I feel bad for the people that work there and have to deal with this insanity, its not their fault, but their bosses should be held accountable, and where do these law makers get off? Bunch of cowards that would never enforce this themselves. They'd only write it on the books and outsource it.

FIFTY dollars in fines because they can't notify me I owe them $4? She corrected me, "Sir the $50 fine applies even if we notified you 2 days after the toll" LOL that's even worse.

This happened to me in Maryland too, they mailed me a bill for a $6 toll. They only asked me to pay... Wait for it.... SIX DOLLARS

These guys are sleazy scammers of the local government. I cannot believe how they are set up and are allowed to run. I would not be surprised if there is a class action lawsuit pending. BEWARE out-of-towners: STAY AWAY from their tolls. We drove up to New Jersey and were tolled in 3 different states. NJ sent the notification straight to our home address and we paid. MD sent notification to the car's finance company, they paid, and we paid the finance company the amount of THE TOLL. The underhanded thing is that we cannot appeal/contest the charges as the bill is sent to and automatically paid by the finance company. Now, there's Delaware, who sent to the finance company an outrageous bill that included $4 toll, $25 administrative fee, $10 ambulance fund, and $15 Combat Violent Crimes fund. We were from out-of-state, had an E-Z tag from our own state and were billed for funds that are the responsibility of Delaware residents. It gets worse: NJ had admin. fees, too, but I was able to CALL them and come to an agreement. DE has a phone number, but NO option for speak with customer service.
