86 Wasted!! I am so disgusted and honestly still in disbelief that I spent that much money, only for every platter to be absolutely terrible. From the moment we walked in, things were off. We stated we wanted to dine in and were seated and given menus. Immediately, I had some concerns. The server—who looked very young—was wearing a casual summer shirt set, had headphones resting on his head, and his hair was hanging in his face. It was not only unprofessional, but also unsanitary. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe it was just an off Sunday for him.

After a bit of a wait, we were finally asked what drinks we wanted. Since drink options weren’t listed on the menu, we asked what was available. We were then told they only had canned sodas and asked if that was okay. 🤔 I’ve seen restaurants offer both fountain and canned drinks, but never just cans—it felt odd, but we went along with it.

We ordered two appetizers: the crab dip and crab egg rolls. We waited about 20–25 minutes, but thankfully those were decent enough to hold us over. Shortly after, my husband and mother arrived. No one was at the front to greet them, so we had to guide them to our table ourselves. The server eventually came back and casually said, “Oh my bad, I didn’t know someone came in.” Oh my bad? Really? 🤦🏾‍♀️ Okay…

We placed our food and drink orders and waited patiently. About 30 minutes went by, and we realized we hadn’t even received our drinks yet, let alone the food. There were no napkins on the table, no straws, nothing. More time passed—over an hour—and now not only were we irritated, but we were freezing! I’m not sure if the AC was stuck on blast or what, but we had to take turns stepping outside just to warm up. Still no food, and worse—no communication from anyone. No apologies, no updates, no refills. Nothing.

Finally, my mother noticed several to-go trays sitting at the front counter. She asked if any of them were ours—and sure enough, they were. After we clearly stated we were dining in, they had packed our meals to go and left them sitting up front. The server’s only response? “Oh, my bad. I forgot it was for here.” What?! At that point, we just said, “Leave it as is. We’re leaving.”

It was beyond ridiculous.

We got in the car, trying to calm ourselves down enough to eat, and OMG… it only got worse. The “fried cabbage” looked like scorched grilled onions—I was completely thrown off. It had absolutely no flavor and was burned to the point of being inedible. I’m okay with a little char, but not when that’s all I can taste.

The rice was overcooked and mushy. The crab cakes were wet and had an off texture—I couldn’t even eat them because I’m very sensitive to food textures. My mother’s oxtails were oddly spicy, with no mention anywhere on the menu that they had a kick to them. The yams were overloaded with nutmeg, so much that you couldn’t taste anything else. The mac and cheese was average—nothing special at all. And the potato salad? It looked mushy, the potatoes were undercooked, and the seasoning was awful.

All I can say is: I don’t know how long this restaurant has been in business, but they seriously need to work on their professionalism, customer service, and—most importantly—the quality of their food.

This experience was incredibly disappointing and not worth a single dollar of the...

We were in Dover for Delaware Pride and decided to find a place to eat where we could sit before heading back up to Philly. We chose to come here to "Soulfully Delicious," and the name says it all! The food was amazing! My partner had the Salmon Creole - the salmon itself was a little too dry for her (she likes salmon rare) but it was all perfectly seasoned, and there had to be a pound of crab and probably 8-10 shrimp on top of a plate full of mashed potatoes. I had the honey BBQ jerk chicken (they were unfortunately out of regular jerk chicken), collard greens, and sweet potato casserole - all of it was so good, but those collards were TOP NOTCH! My son had the Rasta Pasta, which had tons of shrimp and chicken, and a side of macaroni & cheese. He couldn't finish - this is a complete rarity. Portions were very big, and we carried out more than we could eat while there. The owner is very sweet. She's said she's had a lot of trouble finding people willing to work, so she's understaffed. Add to that she got an unexpected party of 20 come in just before us. So, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. But they graciously gave us an order of warm crab dip and chips free of charge for our wait, and that certainly made up for it! Lots of warm crab in a well-seasoned, creamy dip. Sooo good! Loved the music, though it was a bit loud. It was really cold, too - AC was blasting. But the positives of this place far outweigh the negatives! I highly recommend...

This was my very 1st time dining here. The place was quite inviting.

Pros: The portion size was quite fulfilling. The honey salon was absolutely delicious and seasoned well. The cabbage was cooked to perfection. My husband really enjoyed the sweet potato souffle. .

The menu had a great selection of mouthwatering options to choose from. It was blurry to determine what I wanted to try.

CONS: The ordering system was a bit confusing once entering the establishment. It took 15-20 minutes for the appetizer. And approximately 50-60 mins for the entree food to arrive at the table; it took much longer than expected to receive. The extra sides were extremely stingy portions for the $5 cost

The collard greens were too spicy for my palette. My mac and cheese was cold when I opened the container. [The staff graciously brought out a fresh hot side] The sides' servings were smaller than what was served in our Styrofoam platter container. I ended up using a disposable set of utensils that I had in my purse that was much bigger and sturdier than what was provided.

Now, I understand that the restaurant business is a challenging overhaul for the food industry.

They probably should consider being a take out establishment until they have ample and RELIABLE staffing to support the volume of business.

I'll definitely go back to support this budding black owned business.

Go...
