In November 2024, I contracted with Mattioni Plumbing, Heating & Cooling for the primary purpose of modifying ductwork in my home so I could condition additions to my home. The job was not completed until March of 2025. I wanted to review each month separately but Google only allows 1 review per customer. So this will be a long one. Month 1: A Mattioni Field Supervisor came to my home in early November 2024. He spent over 2 hours doing his "due diligence" to assess the most efficient way to condition the additions to my home. I received 3 other proposals from 3 HVAC companies during this time period and was told that the system needed to be upsized or that I could keep the system I had and add mini splits. I signed with Mattioni because of previous positive experiences with plumbing work. The Field Supervisor assured me that the whole job would take 2-3 days. If that had actually happened, this would have been a 5 star review. The compressor and air handler were installed the day after I signed the contract. The install team informed me I would be contacted soon to schedule completion of the job. The install team returned 16 days later. However, it was at this point that the lead installer informed me the proposed ductwork modification could not be completed. The Field Supervisor had told the install team that they could extend the ductwork by cutting through a header beam to get into the crawlspace under an addition. I thank God that the lead installer realized that this could not be done without compromising the structure supporting the addition. I contacted a family member who is a contractor. He was confused as to why the Field supervisor would consider cutting through the header when it would be safer (though harder) to cut a piece of concrete out of the slab between the addition crawlspace and the main structure. I discussed this alternative approach with the Field Supervisor. He said that Mattioni does not contract with any masons but suggested that Mattioni would subtract the cost of masonry work from their quote if I was able to find a mason to do the work. Not my responsibility, not what the contract stated but I wanted to get the job done. I received 2 quotes and past this information along to Mattioni. One of the 2 masons I contacted was recommended to me by the Field Supervisor, so I will give credit for that. Month 2: The Field Supervisor said the quoted prices were higher than he had expected. Again, not my responsibility. This continued back and forth until in the third week of December, the former Field Supervisor contacted me to inform me he was no longer employed by Mattioni and someone else would be in touch about the ongoing situation. This new contact was the sales manager, I believe. He told me that Mattioni would not be able to "absorb the cost" of the quoted masonry work. Not my responsibility and definitely not my problem. If I could give a negative star review of my experience with Mattioni in December 2024 I would give a negative 5 stars. Month 3: I kept in contact with the new contact at Mattioni but there was no real progress in January. My experience with Mattioni in January would have been the same as December. However, towards the end of January, I was informed that new contact had found a company close by to do the masonry work at half the price of the previously quoted contractors. Still a 1 star experience at best. Month 4: The masonry company was called Diplomatic Demolition. They were professional and efficient and finished the job they were sub contracted to do in less than 4 hours. I would highly recommend them. It was the first time in months that I started seeing progress. I'm glad my new contact at Mattioni was able to find this masonry company but I am not happy about how long it took. Month 5: The installers returned a few more times between the end of February 2025 and the first week of March 2025 to finish up the job. It took 5 months to complete what I was assured would...

7/23/2024 I can no longer recommend Mattioni for service. On three different occasions for two calls for service no one ever showed up. I stay home all day and no one comes.
Just got off the phone with a supervisor who assures me the 22 HVAC techs are all handling emergency repairs and that many have been on waiting lists. If you cannot handle a window of time do not offer a time frame in scheduling. As my service is for the installation of a soft start switch I get that I am not prioritized but then donāt restrict me to a three hour window two days in a row with no joy.
I understand we have had some 90+ degree days but it does not instill confidence when I purchase an AC system from them and I am told they cannot handle the workload. This specific instance is not the first time as I suffered this once before for a plumbing inspection with prospective repairs and a no show situation.
Some minor concessions have been made for this inconvenience however the confidence factor is registering low at this point and the large purchase of the AC system may turn into a very large regret if this is how things will be.
7/12/2022 Well as anyone reading this can tell by the close sequence of dates, Mattioni is very concerned with establishing trust and customer satisfaction. I was contacted by management personnel who conferred with other staff members and technicians to conclude the issue of short cycling appears to have been a combination of factors. Fan speed, adding refrigerant and a less sensitive thermostat. Today the thermostat was swapped out and at this point appears to be operating at a proper rate. This will still need to be measured more comprehensively over the next few days but my confidence in Mattioni has been restored. I was impressed with their concern and willingness to rectify any issues I was having with the system. It definitely appears they will stand by their work which is something that gives peace of mind to the customer.
7/11/2022 Still short cycling after numerous adjustments. This system is not running right at all. Iām beginning the process of taking further action.
AC that was installed is not working properly. It takes hours to cool down one degree and then is on/off every five minutes. This is very troubling as the former system I had did not do this and I am being told everything seems normal. I am not happy with this as I feel like I am being duped by yet another dishonest HVAC company. I will update this review as the situation unfolds.
Update to comeā¦
7/7/2022 had an annual AC inspection on the sixteen year old system the previous owners had installed. I had known after other inspections and repairs that the system was essentially being held together with bubble gum and band aids. It was time for a new system installation as the compressor was operating at only 10% and there was a discovered leak in the coil. Mattioni technicians explained my options and, being a VIP member, received 15% off the total price. The installation was scheduled for the next day and I was informed the installers would arrive between 8am to 9am. The crew arrived at precisely at 8am. I barely knew they were here, I canāt imagine having an AC unit installed without constant noise but it was rather quiet except the random drill noise and thump from the attic where the system lives. After the install which took about five hours, the installers explained everything about the system, thermostat, outdoor compressor unit and attic unit. They were very efficient, courteous and professional. Mattioni has been the best company to deal with for plumbing and A/C issues. I hope they continue to operate to these high standards. I feel confident and comfortable knowing that they are my plumbing and A/C...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDue 2 limited characters, only post horrible highlights& use shorthand. I purchased new system from Mattioni 9/2023. I waited 1yr 2post review 2see if would resolve issues. They refused. My 16yr HVAC died Friday, 09/15/23. Emergently, I called them; a huge mistake. Rep came out & admitted he was just out at bar. Upfront, I informed him we had issues: with humidity, maintaining the temp on 3rd floor, & I needed house 67-68 degrees due2 medical issues. I explained my 3.5 ton system that died kept house 67/68 & struggled when temps were in 90s. He said zoning was not needed, system would handle all issues, a 2 stage/variable speed system was perfect 2 control humidity in 3 story house (this is not true). He said system wouldn't need zoned, would manage issues, keep 3rd floor cold, would manage humidity, would keep house where I wanted the temp. I told him previous HVAC group that installed system calculated 4.0 ton, but builder refused size. The sales rep told me, and I quote, "I know what I am doing, I have been doing this a long time. Trust me!" Multiple times, he heavily pushed most expensive, premium system. He said 3.5 ton was 2 large & is why system couldn't manage humidity. Said 3 ton was exact size needed numerous times, 3.5 ton was 2big. I believed him and chose the best system he recommended. He never mentioned permits were required 2 replace HVAC system- huge red flag! The install crew came Monday & problems started. They incorrectly installed Aprilaire 5000 airpurifier. Without permission, placed stone down 2 place outside unit on &shortened condensation line, which were against HOA & builder's code. They damaged expensive motorized dolly by sitting on it. Did not clean up all junk they brought in. Never sealed furnace/plenums correctly & unit leaked. Did not hook up thermostat correctly. After 2 days, system couldn't manage humidity at all. I negotiated them 2 place Aprilaire wholehome dehumidifier. It was wrong size per their Aprilaire rep; they refused 2 correct. It was installed incorrectly, & they couldn't figure it out after multiple visits. I fixed it w/help of online Aprilaire techsupport & the manual! This summer, system started freezing. Unit showed low pressure error codes from low refrigerant. They refused 2 replace refrigerant saying itās fine. They came out 2x & said nothing wrong w/system, unsure why house was hot & system always running. One of their techs, who said he was trained 2 size systems 4 houses, said it was undersized. They denied he said this. The system could not cool house when temps were over 90 outside, ran all day 24/7 for 2 months. Manager Greg refused 2 fix system. We had inside temps in high 80s when high 90s outside. I called HVAC system manufacturer, & rep said was undersized based on events. I threatened 2 sue Mattioni if they didn't fix system, &Greg refused. Instead, Greg did Manual J load calculation on house, he refused 2show me results. But I'm supposed 2believe he did it correctly. There are numerous articles/lawsuits online about unscrupulous HVAC contractors who ripoff customers by doing this. They alter calculations so their incorrectly sized system would fit their doctored Manual J calculation. Greg still refuses 2 show if he used correct measurements/variables. He admitted in email he used wrong temp when calculating Manual J. This would show smaller system needed. 4 independent HVAC companies cameout & listed HVAC system was 2small per Manual J, & low on refrigerant by 2 pounds. Mattioni wrote all 4 companies were not credible.
But, Mattioni is?
Please, avoid using Mattioni. Didn't pull permits- huge red flag. They did horrible work. Refused 2 back work quality/customer satisfaction, & they absolutely over charged me 4 a garbage system. There are much better companies out there!
Lookout for their lies in response...
