We had the pleasure of attending a hands on cooking class today with a french chef that had just the right recipe to engage parents and children as we learned important cooking foundation and techniques for children to use at home and in their every day lives.
The minute you walk into their building you are greeted with a smile and during this morning , they asked us if we would like a cup of coffee as I took of our raincoats and quickly started to love the warm mustard colored walls with just the right spot lighting ,very organized open shelf decor š and perfect accent pieces like cookbooks, picnic basket and even a had crafted Puerto Rican Pilon ( mortier) .
I was impressed at the attention of the staff making sure everything was set up prior to our arrival. Everyone had their own utensils and cooking tools required for their meal, the staff would come around to clean up the area if they noticed it was getting clutter or if we simply didnāt need the materials anymore and wanted to get them out of our way.
We were also fortunate to have a real French chef this morning that gave us a taste of her childhood as she incorporated stories of her childhood and families kitchen throughout the entire class. What a special touch to be able to be transported and travel hundreds of miles away with her beautiful vivid narration .
Plan your next funday with them - for an experience to remember. From adult classes, to private events, child friendly and more . Conquering Cuisine and experience for all of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo like a lot of people I only review on the extremes. I had hopes for this Thai cooking class on Jan 18th 2023. that my husband purchased for myself and our two adult daughters as a Christmas gift. I see the reviews are quite favorable in most cases, maybe we hit an off night. After a quick introduction the instructor said she taught cooking classes to high school kids. I'm hoping she gives a bit more instruction and passion to the kids, if not they certainly won't learn a thing. My biggest beef with the class is that there was no instruction on how to cook Thai food. Nothing about their preferred ingredients, origin of recipe, why we cooked in the steps we did, it was quite sad. The printed out recipe that I read a day later actually taught me more. A red flag to me was no aprons and the only real utensil was a dull knife. Disposable plates, I mean come on, the class was 70.00 a person. We made 1 salad topped with beef and two entrees. The final dish was the only one with a bit of flavor. So at the end of the class we learned ZERO about Thai cooking and wasted 280.00. And the final nail in the coffin was we paid for a two hour class which promptly ended in an hour and a half. Based on observation I don't think any of the other participants were pleased. Too bad. They should rename it Killing Cuisine. Sorry I really wanted to like this class but if you don't know you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took another class with Denis and Chef Catherine last night (Chocolate Gateauāanother success!) and when I went to write my review, I noticed an extremely negative one and felt the need to respond. Iāve been taking classes with Denis now for 20 yearsāyes, 20 years!!!! I started at Carlow Cookery and have continued at Conquering Cuisine, and Iāve never been disappointed. I have learned a lot from him and from the other chefs, and I look forward to learning new recipes and techniques. He also has catered events at my home (one was for 75 people) and no one leaves disappointed! Denis truly enjoys what he does, and it shows in his classes and in the way he interacts with his clients. He will go out of his way to accommodate me and others, and because of that his classes are always full. If I canāt make a class for any reason, I usually get someone to take my place. I certainly donāt expect Denis to give me a refund because in his type of business, thatās just not feasible. If everyone canceled and asked for a refund, one has to remember that the food and other prep materials still had to be purchased. And in the 20 years that I have known Denis, I have never heard of him not caring about someone who is sick, or that he cares more about money than about people. So, that said, I canāt wait for my next class to learn new things, meet new people, and enjoy delicious food!!! Hereās to another...
