Today I went to pick up an order of cake and dozen flower cupcakes. The flower cupcakes are for $3.50 each. They give me regular cupcakes with a tiny bit of flower decoration and tell me it is $3.50 per cupcake. I told the lady that the flower cupcakes are bigger and different and she continues to tell me that I'm wrong and I owe them at 3.50 per cupcake. She tells me that she has worked here for 5 years and they have never made large cupcakes. Even the order was not even sized between vanilla and chocolate ones. There was another customer who told me "I hope you don't pay 3.50 for those tiny ones". After 20 minutes of insisting that I was wrong, she goes and talks to the baker. The baker tells her that I'm right. At this point, I'm late for work, my son is late for school, I'm angry because I'm being scammed. I still called the baker "sir" and never cursed. I told the baker that this is exactly what I'm saying that my order is wrong. He tells me that those cupcakes are custom made. I tell him that I did order it. Then he tells me that he can't do anything and will give me a discount. He never offered any other solution or said I'm sorry that your order is wrong. At that point, I tell him to ask his manager to call me and to teach that lady their menu (because she spent 20 min telling me how she worked there for 5 years and they have never made those cupcakes). He flips out and tells me that I'm a horrible mean person. He tears the order paper and says "go, get out and don't come back". I tell him to ring me up for the cake. He suddenly then tells the lady to charge me half off. Mind you, regular cupcakes are $1.50. I was being charged $3.50. Half of $3.50 is $1.75. I told him that I wasn't going to pay 1.75. I should be charged regular size price. He starts yelling at me and tells me that I've ruined his day and the day of all the customers behind me. In all this, I was angry, I raised my voice to talk because they wouldn't listen to me. Why would anyone listen to a brown young woman when a white old tiny lady is serving you?! That was complete racial profiling on how he treated me. In the end, the lady rang me up and then she tells me "oh, I only work part time". They could have offered to add more floral decoration. They could have apologized for wrong order. They could have apologized for being wrong and wasting my time. They didn't do any of it. See under the photos foe details of my order. On Saturday, we had another cake order to pick up (multiple parties for the kid) and they were late to finish the cake. Dad missed part of the party waiting for the cake. The bakery offered 20% off on the order. There are many bakeries in this town. Go take your business elsewhere. They are just as good. Crossroads is literally two blocks down. They will mess up your order and scam...
Read moreDuring our annual visit last year, we thoroughly enjoyed their strawberry shortcake so this year after eating and liking their cupcake with peanut butter mousse and chocolate, we decided to get their peanut butter mousse pie because we love peanut butter. When we received it, it looked great but tasted terrible. So much so that both my mom and I threw out our halves, which we have never done for a peanut butter bakery item. The picture of the slice says it all. First, they just add some peanut butter mousse to their stabilized whipped cream and then fail to fully blend them together. This made the filling heavy and lacking in peanut butter flavor. Second, the graham cracker crust lacked flavor and had the texture of a factory produced one and lastly, the stabilized whipped cream decorations on top should have been flavored with peanut butter. I have not tried any of their other pies to comment on them but do not get their peanut butter one. The next week, we reordered their 8-inch strawberry shortcake that we enjoyed so much the previous year. It was still good, but it would have been much better if between the cake layers, they would have used only strawberries as the filling rather than stabilized whipped cream with an...
