Comprehensive Review; Location: Not far off the freeway but its further in than most gyms being right off a highway. It's parking lot is notably small which is a concern as they look to grow in members. I'd guess there's less than 30 available parking spots on site without having to resort to street parking or who knows where else you'd try and park without subjecting yourself to a tow from other businesses. Equipment: Top of the line Gym 80 machines, chrome plates, dumbbells and curl bars. Only 4-5 treadmills and just 2 stair masters so cardio freaks may have some trouble here. There is a good assortment of machines to target different areas of your training with a slight emphasis on legs and lower body. This is definitely a gym that prioritizes lifting, competing, and bodybuilding. It's single story and not very large so congestion becomes a concern but now that they are after their intro period they have drastically increased prices to try and prevent over crowding. They have a dedicated posing room and some sort of studio that could double as the same or used for a multitude of purposes. They do not have a men's / women's locker room and instead have 4 all gender bathrooms, two of which have a shower while the other two don't. They do not have a towel service so bring your own if you plan to shower. They have lockers with the standard number combination. They do not have; Steam room, Sauna, proper recovery options or classes of any sort. They look to be attempting to incorporate trainer options but the costs of that are currently unknown. They have a partnership with Glow House Studio that offers a Red Light Stimulation bed for $100 a session per hour in addition to hydra facials, derma planning and spray tans, none of which come complimentary to members so prepare for extra costs if you want to use these. Costs: Disgustingly expensive currently. 139/mo for a year lock or 159/mo with no commitments. If you weren't one of the few intro sign ups this doesn't make any sense to join. Down the road you could sign up at Villa Sport for 129/mo and get an actual full recovery access as part of your membership.. I.E. Free and not bogus extra charges like the Glow House Studio all while having access to men and women's dedicated bathrooms, large classes, men and women's private sauna and steam rooms, a recovery room with; Massage chairs, local cryo, compression technology, red light saunas (individual and group) cold plunge and red light therapy - did I mention that all comes as part of your 129/mo? Crazy how much better value that is in comparison, and if you don't need it it's 99/mo. Vibe: Lux has some of the best lighting and artwork I've seen in any gym, they actually play good music (sometimes depending on who's on the Aux up front) and the Manager Vince has some of the greatest energy you'll ever see. They chose the right guy to be their general manager that's for sure. However, if you're not a fan of people recording in the gym stay far away from this location. This is 'influencer' 'tik toker' city. I'd say about 1 in 4 people are carrying around a tripod or there's some sort of duo with their phones or big cameras out recording or picture taking for their 'followers.' So between them taking time to set up the perfect angle, check their lighting and make everything for their vanity you're wondering when they might move on to their next area to just be in the way or while you try to avoid being in their background. If you spend any time following their stories they repost those who tag them so it's all for marketing I'm sure but if you take any time to look at these individuals - they're all just posting for their bot following with incredibly low engagement themselves on any post so you begin to wonder what it's all for. They just end up being in the way and annoying. If you're looking to rub shoulders with 'influencers' and take your training to the next level in self vanity all while paying incredibly over inflated costs for the level of amenities you'll receive then...
Read moreNot just another luxury gym but a positive community. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great music that keeps you pushing towards your goals, fitness minded members.
The quality of the gym is superb. The dumbbells are well balanced that you notice as you pick them up. The machines are smooth and top notch compared to competitors. I’ve used lat pull down machines at other gyms and the angles were just not right, you need to try Lux’s lat pull down machine and you’ll understand. The gym is more focused on strength training/body building, but overall has everything you need for a well rounded workout. Bands, pull up bars, kettlebells, suspension straps, yoga mats, foam rollers, sled, turf area. Great for mobility/stability training too.
Lots of influencers, but everyone so far has been respectful and it’s actually quite motivating to strive towards my goals. Being around a community where we have similar goals is a good thing. When I’m lifting at my upper limit, people are ready to spot you.
The staff has been great. They pay attention to detail and take feedback very seriously. They are continually making improvements to the space. I mentioned to the owner that a lift/jack would be nice to have for the deadlifting platform and soon after there’s one.
I think pricing is fair. I came from Fitness 19, 24 hour fitness, Crunch fitness, and Equinox. The discount gyms are overcrowded, not in great shape, red light therapy machines are out of order frequently, and do not offer showers. And constantly being hounded for personal training sessions can get annoying. I would say Lux is more in line with Equinox than the other gyms, but without the pool, but less expensive than Equinox. The equipment is a lot nicer than Equinox’s. Lux is a great balance of amenities and price that offers you the space to achieve your...
