First of all the store is extremely well stocked. Terrific variety, more than any other store around here. I love the organic produce section it's awesome. An entire section of the store is devoted to organic items which is amazing. We're not talking less money than some other stores but given the variety it's wonderful. The meat is really quite expensive compared to other stores and for that reason I've chosen not to buy any of their meats. My sons near Aurora have found the same and do not buy the meats at all. The bacon and sausages are relatively high compared to stores like Meijer, or Butera. Though I sell them ever by meat from butera either because in many instances the origin of the meat concerns me. The store brand at the store sure fine is quite comparable to the name brand as well. I found that the laundry detergent and additives is a tad more expensive except if it happens to be on sale. The coffee section is a dream to walk through.. incredibly odiferous. The one thing that I find disconcerting is the fact that the cashiers go so extremely fast that it is difficult if not impossible to check pricing as it is scanned. I've asked several times for them to slow down and they had said that they are being timed and that it cannot be slowed down at all. I asked because I am older and looking at the item and then the screen is almost impossible to keep up with. I do not know why if there is no one behind me in line why they find it necessary, the management, to force the cashier to move exceedingly fast. being time doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The cashiers are kind and considerate as are the baggers who apparently are not being timed. In this day and age a human should not be forced to go as fast as a robot would. My friends and I have the exactly the same opinions as I've stated above. .. update. They've decided to move the plant-based butters and cheeses to a separate location across from dairy. I was looking for the brand Melt.. assuming it was still by the plant-based and regular butter section I looked around for a good 30 minutes couldn't find an employee to ask which in itself is disparaging. After I checked out I went to the front counter and a very nice woman told me where it was and Drew a little map. Problem was that's basically 500 ft from her and then 500 ft back. They need little signs in the butter section especially above country Crock plant-based that has not been moved from the butter section to say that everything has moved to this...
Read moreI generally enjoy shopping at Woodman’s as the prices are great, and the selection is wide. This past weekend I went shopping and it left me feeling worse than when I came in. I came by to purchase a last-minute item for a party. I saw that only the item was $2 cheaper, so I grabbed 2 of that said item. When I came to check out, it was ringing up at full price. I asked the lady in chard of Self-Checkout if she could help me and see what was going on. She entered in the $2 off for each item as a coupon which didn’t bother me. When I went to pay, I paid with an EBT/SNAP card. When it finishes processing my card, it said I still owed a balance. Those who know how EBT/SNAP card work know that taxes are usually $0. For me it wasn’t. I called over the cashier again to help me see what was going on. At that point she figured out it was the coupon entry she had put in that was doing it. She then asks if I don’t have the change to pay it off. The thing is, I have the change to pay for it, what really bothered me is, what if I didn’t. The cashier, instead of putting it as a price adjustment, put it in as a coupon. I then asked her if she could just start the transaction over again and to please do it the right way. Instead, she looked at me confused, walked away, and left without saying a word as she was trying to figure out what to do. Eventually she found a coworker to give her change from a drawer to put in for my transaction. The thing that got me upset was how she was trying to find the easy way out every time she came over to me. I work in retail, I get it isn’t easy, especially self-checkout. But what I do know is the customer should never work harder than the associate. For me, it was that what if I didn’t have the change to pay for my transaction, what if the EBT/SNAP card was all I had to use to pay for my groceries. Long story short, the cashiers either need more training on how to work the registers, deal with customers, or not to ask customers for more money than...
Read moreI reluctantly write this review only because of the great sadness I feel from the Woodman’s Carpentersville management team making me feel my loyalty to this store has no value and as a customer I mean nothing to them. Let me start out by saying I moved into this area in 2004 just before Woodman’s had there grand opening at the Carpentersville store and since have made it my go to store for all my groceries, liquor and gasoline. Using my accounting software, I generated a report to total all transactions I made since there opening and was shocked at the total. Since April 2004 till my last visit last week before the incident, I spent a total of $92,640.25 on their products and services. I do believe I have great loyalty and value to this store. The incident 02-13-2021- last week I went to have a pair of reader glasses exchanged that had a manufacture defect in the frame, thinking they wood just let me grab another pair. Well, the customer service clerk basically said if I can’t produce a receipt there’s nothing he can do and then got me the assistant manager Brian Esposito. Brian was very cold and showed no interest in my dilemma, basically said if you don’t have a receipt, I can’t help you. I then informed Brian of the loyalty I give this store, but he really didn’t care and told me if I’m not happy to call corporate and tell them and gave me his card. I called corporate and spoke with Megan in customer care, She said she would contact Brian and see if she can correct the problem. Megan called back and said Brian is sticking to his guns and will not help me. Megan also reached out to the store manager Troy with the same results. This is no longer about the glasses its about how they treated me as a loyal customer. As it stands I feel like a fool for giving such loyalty to a store that don’t give a hoot about customer loyalty and as of last week its goodbye and so...
