The Ginger Blackberry Mojito was absolutely the best thing I’ve ever tasted! The combination of fresh blackberries, aromatic ginger, and the refreshing mint made for an incredibly unique and flavorful twist on the classic mojito. MOJITO RATING 10/10
The Ceviche Mixto offers a delightful blend of flavors and textures that truly elevate the classic dish. Per request we asked for the dish to be spicy. The shrimp, octopus, calamari, & fish are perfectly cooked, in an Leche de Tigre lime brine that provided a sweet & spicy, satisfying refreshing bite. Although the chef forgot to add the avocado to the tasty meal in the beginning, once added it was incredible. CEVICHE MIXTO rating 9/10
Be sure to come with an appetite if your meal of choice is the rotisserie chicken platter! The chicken is cooked to perfection, with a beautifully crispy, golden-brown skin that gives way to succulent, juicy meat. Each bite is incredibly flavorful, with a subtle smokiness that perfectly complements the tenderness of the bird.
The yellow Spanish rice is a standout component of the dish, not only for its vibrant color but also for its unique flavor. The hint of Turmeric spices in the rice adds an intriguing depth, with notes of cumin, & adobo it add a touch of warmth that elevate the traditional rice to something extraordinary. It's aromatic, flavor pairs beautifully with the richness of the chicken. The French fries are golden and crunchy, providing the perfect contrast to the softness of the rice and chicken. The beans are perfectly cooked, tender, and well-seasoned, offering a satisfying earthy balance to the meal. The chicken roll-up, a surprise addition, is filled with a flavorful stuffing that brings together all the elements of the package together. Whole Rotisserie chicken platter Rating 9/10
The salmon pasta with poblano, kale, and mushrooms was a delightful and pleasant dish. The salmon, freshly caught from the sea, was cooked to perfection—flaky and tender with a subtle smokiness that complemented the richness of the pasta. Its natural flavors really shone through, proving that quality ingredients make all the difference.
The combination of poblano peppers, kale, and mushrooms was a unique and satisfying pairing. The poblano pepper added a nice, mild heat and smokiness, which complemented the dish well, but the saltiness of the pasta base detracted from the overall balance. The poblano’s rich, earthy flavor had the potential to shine through more, but the saltiness seemed to take center stage. While the combination of flavors was interesting, a more balanced seasoning would have made the dish even better, allowing the poblano pepper to truly stand out and create a more harmonious flavor profile. Salmon poblano pasta Rating 7.5
The tacos de carne asada were a bit disappointing, primarily due to the over-salting of the meat. While the charred edges and tenderness of the carne asada looked promising, the excessive salt overshadowed the natural flavors of the beef. It left an imbalance that made the tacos feel overly salty with each bite, making it hard to fully enjoy the other ingredients, like the fresh cilantro, onions, and tangy salsa.
The tortillas were soft and fresh, which provided a nice base, but they couldn't quite compensate for the salty meat. It's clear that the taco could have been a standout dish if the seasoning had been better balanced. While the overall experience wasn’t terrible, the saltiness was a major letdown, detracting from the potential of an otherwise well-constructed taco. Tacos de Carne asada Rating 3/10
Overall, the experience was good, but it didn’t leave a strong enough impression to guarantee a return visit for the whole table. While some dishes were enjoyable, with standout flavors and well-prepared ingredients, others felt a bit lackluster or inconsistent. The service was friendly and the ambiance pleasant, but certain aspects, like the seasoning or balance of flavors in a few dishes, may have left some people feeling cheated out of...
Read moreMy first experience was absolutely incredible. The food was so fresh and good and my waitress Ruthie was outstanding. It was so good. I went back to second day and I ordered my hearts desire. I do love Ceviche. I ordered the fish ceviche. I was a little confused the flavors were so good, there was avocado and pickled onions and peppers spices it was in this big stone bowl and the broth was incredible……..but It didn’t have any fish. I finally found a couple of small pieces about the size of my fingernail. I was almost going to ask if I could get some actual fish but then I thought perhaps this is the way they prepared theirs and also I had nothing to compare it with as this was my first time, trying it. And the flavor and seasoning were so outstanding that if I was going for vegetarian ceviche, I would not have been disappointed. I did mention it to Ruthie and she told me she would take the feedback back to management. Ruthie is outstanding and has good customer service and is very attentive. I am looking forward to going back and trying some other things. I would even try the ceviche again. Perhaps this was just a one time thing And possibly, I got the bottom...
Read moreSaw this place had 4.8 stars and outdoor seating so we decided to give it a try! The menu is a little pricy, but you are paying for the location/ambiance. We started with the chips and salsa which was delicious. The bean dip that came with it was definitely unseasoned and just tasted like pureed beans.
Since they don't have frozen drinks we decided to try a cocktail (Al coco no) and a traditional marg. Both came in large cups and we're mostly ice. Flavor was a bit off for the traditional marg, but the cocktail had good flavor.
We ordered the birria tacos and fajitas and this is where things started to go downhill. The birria tacos come on a soft corn tortilla (not fried) that falls apart when you pick it up. There is no cheese on taco and the portion of birria dipping sauce was so tiny. The fajitas were a bit non-traditional and came as a big plate of chicken over rice and veg, which would have been okay with some salt or seasoning. They do not include tortillas so you are basically eating chicken over rice.
I love most Mexican food in Durham, but not sure if this...
