I went into the store on Saturday May 10th to exchange an item I had purchased online and the service I received on behalf of Samantha and Josie was very unprofessional.
I purposely didnât open the package because I knew the moment that I placed the order that it was the incorrect item and I didnât want to have any problems with the exchange. I placed another order with the correct item just a few minutes later.
I was greeted by other employees and one even assisted in getting an item for the exchange. While waiting in line, I even asked another employee if she could bring me an additional set because I didnât want to lose my spot in line. Both were very kind.
Once at the register, I notified Samantha that I was going to make an exchange because I ordered the wrong item and that I had not opened the package because I knew it was the wrong item and I didnât want to have any issues. She took the package, turned it all the way around, noticing it was closed, and then asked me very rudely âdid you open it or remove any tags?â No, I answered her. She sighed and proceeded to cut the package open. She asked me the reason for my return a couple more times and I answered again that it was the wrong item.
I get it that we all have our off days, but this is not the first time that I had been treated unkindly by Samantha. I dismissed it back then wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt.
The other lady helping to fold and bag the purchases asked Josie for the phone in order to log a return item back into stock. Josie looked at me condescendingly, gave the employee the phone, and turned and walked away. According to Josieâs response to my sister, she was having an important conversation with a vendor, but I witnessed her taking pictures with her baby while the vendor attempted to get the baby to smile.
I didnât mention anything at that time because everyone else, including shoppers, all looked happy to be shopping for Motherâs Day and I didnât want to ruin it for anyone, including me.
Southern Melon had always been my go to when I needed an outfit for a special occasion or just to shop for myself, even with other boutiques closer to me, because I knew that they would have what I was looking for. My shopping had become sporadic in the past year or two because their store hours didnât work for me, and I knew it would be difficult for me to return/exchange an item.
Am I asking for them to jump through hoops for me? Absolutely not! Iâm just asking to be treated with some respect. Never once was I rude to anyone. Never once did I complain about the wait time to pay.
As my sister said, we have decided to âspeak with our dollarsâ and will no longer be shopping at Southern Melon or any place that treats...

Read moreThis boutique is lovely. My go to place for gifts. The staff are amazing and so welcoming. However, Josie is so rude. It's disheartening to go to a place where the owner is only inviting to certain people. I have gone in and she'll literally be standing at the counter, give one condescending look, then walk away while the other ladies NEXT to her greet me. Am I not good enough for a "welcome"? Ugly behavior and attitude, I will not recommend this place unless she proves otherwise.
Actually Josie I just visited this year not last year. And you weren't in the back, you were in the front like I said. All the times I have gone in you have not once welcomed me. It is not just their job but yours to sell your establishment. I will not be taking my business back, but I'm sure that doesn't bother you anyway. I still wish you and your business well because you really do know what the...
