Went to Chopstix yesterday with my family, party of 8. It was a comedy of errors. The meals were delivered randomly over a 20 minute period: grandma's was delivered in about 5 minutes, about 12 minutes later 2 more meals arrived. Sadly, my sister-in-law's meal took about 20 minutes to be served and it was not the correct meal. Plus, it was not delivered by our server and I believe this to be the source of most of our problems. I'm not sure where she went, but after she took our orders, she disappeared until about 45 minutes later to bring us the bill. So the hostess took my SIL's meal back and brought her another one. Again, not what she ordered. But she was growing frustrated, so she said, "It's fine." and just ate that one. My meal sadly never arrived. After about 25 minutes (and again, not one check-in by the server), we flagged down the hostess and asked if I could get my meal. The family was at this point finished eating, so I asked her to bring it to go. I never received an apology, nor any explanation! The original server finally reappeared to bring the bill at which point she apologized to my sister-in-law for the mix-up. Not one word to me. It's almost like she was unaware that I had not been served my meal! Here's the only explanation I can muster. After we ordered our food, I went to use the restroom. My wife told me later in the afternoon that while I was away, the hostess brought my SIL her meal (pad thai). Well, it was chicken pad thai and she had ordered shrimp. So the hostess took it back to the kitchen not having realized that I had ordered chicken pad thai. When I returned from the restroom, I was none the wiser. So I THINK that the hostess just came up to the table and asked, "Who had pad thai?" and my SIL waved her over because that was her order. My SIL forgot or wasn't aware that I had ordered chicken pad thai, so she just sent it back to the kitchen. And since the hostess had not taken our initial order, she had no idea that a chicken pad thai HAD been ordered. All of this could have been solved by a quick check-in by our server to see that we all had our meals and drinks. She would have noticed right away that I didn't have any food at all. But she never checked in, not even to refill drinks. So we will not be back.
Besides the terrible timing of the kitchen and unacceptable service, the food we did get was pretty...
Read moreI have eaten at this restaurant quite a few times throughout the years, even when they only had the Mission location here in the Valley. Customer service has never been that great in this Edinburg location, but the price was fine and it was near the university. Today, I ate at their restaurant and experienced customer service so horrible that I had to review them online, which I have honestly been too lazy to ever do before.
Other than repeatedly getting our orders wrong and charging us for the wrong things, the waitress kept bringing us food that were not the correct size and not even the correct dish while claiming that they were what we ordered. Apparently chicken curry doesn't have chicken in it -.-
Because it was difficult to communicate with the waitress and she clearly didn't know what the dishes looked like in the restaurant she worked at, we had to resort to calling the manager. When asked if we could have the proper size of the dish we ordered, he blamed us for ordering the wrong size (we did not) and just annoyedly said fine and walked away. Because we were seated next to the kitchen, we saw as he continued to the kitchen and slammed the dish we returned into the trash so hard that the top of the bin flew off. When he came back with the "correct size", it was really just the same thing put in a bigger plate. Again, we have eaten here quite a few times and even in their other locations so we know how big the portions really are.
Perhaps the waitress was new and her mistakes were forgivable, but blaming the customers is uncalled for, especially in the manager's part. I would even let this pass if the place was so busy, but there were only 3 other groups in the restaurant with us. There's more I could say, not just from this visit but from previous ones too, but I feel that the manager's actions this time...
Read moreBeen going to this restaurant for several years and have enjoyed their menu although I've had my complaints like charging extra for vegetables that are suppose to be included with the Vietnemeese egg rolls, or finding a hair in my food, but mainly one time that my ex had to return his plate due to almost choking on a metal object...He never went back but I did because I see these kind of incidents as isolated and can happen anywhere...Until a couple of days ago when my phone went dead while trying to get an order to go for 2 other people and the manager refused to let me use the restaurant phone so I can call back and complete taking down the order to place the order...I explained to Steve the manager that that was bad customer service and that I was a loyal customer and that he was losing out to 2 extra orders and also that I would never come back and he responded by saying it is not my doing but the owners instructions...So I asked him to give me a number where I could report this incident and maybe give the owners a chance to correct this for the future and he refused to give me any information...So in the end I told him I would report this incident on the reviews and on social media about his and his employers bad customer service and he simply said well im sorry go right ahead 🙄 The thing that upsets me the most about this it's not so much the ignorance or the arrogance of this manager Steve but it's the fact that I actually like the food here but due to people with no people skills is how many business owners go out of business...I hope the owners of this establishment pay attention to their customers reviews and do something about training their...
