Staff were very friendly and the gym is in fair shape. Bathrooms/locker rooms where well kept. Facility all together is fair.
The reason for the two star rating was the poor managerial interaction. My story is of finances. I moved to the area in September, was going to be in the area for one school year, and already had a retro fitness membership. Since the renewal period for retro coincides with the new year, I decided to cancel my membership in December since I would be moving out of the area in May and would not need the membership where I would be moving to next. Fast forward to April and I receive a letter from collections stating that I had owed for three months to retro fitness. Confused, I called the retro fitness in an attempt to solve the issue. When discussing with the manager, he was very dismissive. There was no conversing and I felt I was treated unfairly.
I ended the issue by paying collections and confirming that my membership was cancelled this time. It's unfortunate that a company that I have been a member with on and off since 2009 would not listen to it's members issue, especially since the issue was due to a simple...
Read moreMy son and I always find a gym when we are on our family vacations. We've had our share of hits and misses - this is definitely a hit. In fact it is one of the best we've been too.
We are both into free weights. This place has 3 squat racks - many don't have one. There are multiple benches, stools, etc. It really has everything you need. It even had a weighted push sled!! I've only seen that in one other gym.
The equipment was clean and well maintained, weights were put away, people seemed respectful of the equipment. It's obvious this place is run very well.
As out of towners the day pass is very reasonable and there isn't a limit as to when you can buy it (other gyms only let you buy it/use it during business hours).
I saw in other reviews the mention of the locker room and bathrooms - I completely agree. They were both very clean and well maintained. If I lived here I'd be a member. If we come back to Atlantic City I know where I'm going. You...
Read more10 years strong for a reason! Great place to workout!
Pros: •Staff and members are friendly. •Reasonable prices. •Longer hours than other gyms. •Tanning & Smoothie bar. •No hounding trainers. •Open free weight area with upstairs cardio. •Heavy bag area. •Brand new turf area w/Sled. •Clean bathrooms and facility. •Being renovated to keep up with local competition.
Cons: •Little crowded around 5 to 7pm (like all gyms) •Some equipment is showing age. •Not allowed to throw dumbbells at people who don't put their weights back.
-This gym is great for the price, I made great progress here at this Retro, it's my second favorite in the Tri-State! (See progress photo!)
This Retro has many amateur bodybuilders that do just fine with the equipment to qualify them for their pro card.
*Side note-If YOU sign an agreement, YOU have to pay it! It's YOUR job to double check the fine print, not...
