Lying and bad sales practices! Back in July 2020, we purchased a bedroom set for our 9 yr old for his birthday in September. Two weeks before his birthday we got a call mid September to tell us unfortunately some items are back ordered and could not be delivered. Then we were given a date of Oct. then in October 2 days before delivery I got a call to let me know it would be mid November. Then again on Nov 13th another call to say some items are not available. And here we are another call December 12 to tell me the Dec 15 delivery will not be complete items for the bed will be missing. But wait it gets worse. Every time I got a call from the Columbia Harbison office I am told to just cancel my order and do a new one because on their system they see the items available. Is this joke? No it was not. Each time I called corporate got more false promises about the next given date I will have the items. Mind you no where on their site do they tell you some items my be 6 or more months delayed, they continue to sale and give dates for delivery even though they know customers like me are still waiting 6+ months for those same items. Proof! A little hard every time they change dates they update the system. But I have my original email from purchase date. Oh and a promise from corporate to give a credit to my already paid for credit card of $150. That never was credited. One thing I’ve noticed I have not seen any Value City Furn trucks. At all since my summer purchase here in Columbia. Yet, they continue to sell business as usual and lie to the public about delivery times. I will continue to wait for the bedroom set grandma picked out with my son 6 months ago. And Value City to honor their business promise to deliver a child’s bedroom set completed and not in pieces. Update 12/21/2020: The manager called me and corrected the credit that has now been credited to the credit card I used to buy the bedroom set. Bed bookcase headboard delivered! Yay I am Sooo excited. The bedroom set looks great. Two movers came and put it together. Onemover very attentive and answered my questions the other dropped a door on the porch then down the stairs and unapologetically uncaring about it. One of the movers dropped the sliding door twice and upon inspection it was missing pins that hold the door in place. I called the Columbia, SC office to report the missing pieces. I was not transferred to a manager as I asked but I was told I would get a call this morning. Wait for it... wait for it, I am still...
Read moreMy review is multi-faceted. Bear with me!
Customer Service (1/5)- I am beyond disappointed with the Customer Service of this location. I did my initial sale with an associate that no longer works for the location, yet did not get my items transferred to a new associate. Long story short, I had to stay on the store for over a week, and it wasn’t handled properly until I worked with the sales manager and store manager that finally got my order somewhat right.
Setup of Delivery (1/5)- I have worked with other furniture companies and have never experienced such a convoluted process to arrange delivery. When I spoke with the store manager, I tried to request one date for delivery, was told that my time for delivery wouldn’t work for that day, then told delivery for the next day, then 2 days later, was called by another representative that the delivery would be delayed another 2 business days! Unacceptable.
Delivery (5/5)- On the flip side, the gentlemen that delivered my items (Carlos and Chazmine) were A+ professionals who delivered my items early on the day of delivery, assembled my items quickly and properly, and were very courteous in their noise and work as I worked with another vendor.
Quality of Products (5/5)- I am very satisfied with the look, sturdiness, and quality of my items ordered.
Overall, it balances out to a 3...I’m not completely satisfied, but not unsatisfied either. I am still waiting on one more item from Value City...due to this experience, I probably won’t purchase something again from this location unless I can pick it...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at the Value City store in the Sandhills and Harbison areas, and I strongly recommend avoiding both locations! We purchased a dining room table set in December 2024, only to have it delivered damaged. We were promised a technician would assess whether it could be repaired, but when he arrived, he barely looked at the tabletop and declared it needed to be replaced without attempting any repair. After waiting endlessly with no updates, I visited the Sandhills store to inquire about the replacement and was met with nothing but empty promises—I still haven't received it. Value City offered a mere $250 refund if we kept the damaged table, which we refused. Instead, they agreed to give us a refund or store credit of $450 and said a replacement would arrive on January 4, 2025. But on that day, the delivery men brought a barstool instead of the tabletop! Frustrated, I returned to the Sandhills store, only to receive more misleading information. Today, when I called to ensure my tabletop would finally be delivered as promised, I was told there was a system error and it never even arrived at the Harbison store! It's clear that the staff at both locations lack proper communication, the inventory system is a mess, and my patience has worn thin with this ridiculous process. I will NEVER shop at Value City again and would advise anyone considering it to stay far away. This has been a thoroughly awful experience and a huge inconvenience for my family. Value City needs to take this eyesore out of my home ASAP and expedite our...
