Mr. Seafood Northeast — Restaurant in Elgin

The food is really good, well seasoned. I’ve been here a few times. If ordering a fish platter there’s a $3-4 up charge if you choose a different type of fish other than whiting even though they have different types listed as options. It can be pricey but that’s seafood for you. They also offer non seafood options like plain wings and select flavors but if someone has an allergy I would advise against it (cross contamination is possible, I was told it’s could be cooked in grease that may have had fish fried in it). It’s very clean, has indoor/outdoor seating. My only issue is that I had to wait a lot longer than usual 10-15min ( I waited 45min-to just shy of an hour for food). So order ahead or try to beat the crowd. They send you a text when your food is ready, the system delays at times (example:I didn’t get a notification until after I had gotten my food, taken a few bites and proceeded to head home) another time I received a notification before my order was ready. I had the opportunity to dine at this establishment’s food truck while at the SC State Fair. The service was very welcoming and on first look, I believed the food to be worth the cost. I was highly disappointed when we started to eat. We ordered two orders of the Seafood Tacos at $20 per pop…and although very tasty, the sauce was only on the top. The middle was bone dry and very tasteless to eat plain tortillas, so we just ate the top & discarded the rest. We did try to stir it up, but it just wasn’t enough sauce. When inquired, we were also advised that the topping would include shrimp, crawfish, lobster & crab, but included in the sauce was only shrimp. We did our best to enjoy our selection. My husband indulged in the Salmon bites, which were very tasty, but for $12 were very small and I believed had only eight bites in total. Long review: placed an order on Mr Seafood’s website for delivery. I received notification 10 minutes after that the person was there to pick up my food. Then later I got a notification that the food was delayed. I called and the person told me my food left an hour ago. I told her I never received it. I received a text saying the driver was approaching and all of a sudden the order was cancelled. She said I had to contact Toast Delivery for a refund. While I was on hold with Toast Delivery someone from Mr Seafood called and asked if I wanted a remake or a refund because someone was there to bring it. I said remake it but asked to pick it up but they said the person can bring it now. An hour went by and I called back and they told me the driver left an hour ago.
