Rooms To Go — Local services in Elgin

After finally settling in to my new home here in the midlands, I felt the time came to refresh the look & feel of our home, and a new dining ensemble was in order, and after researching a number of options, I settled on the Acorn Cottage 5 piece dining table & chair set from Rooms To Go. The build quality was very nice (sturdy!) and size-wize it fit my space perfectly, with space left to spare should we need to utilize the additional two leafs that fit into the table (along with additional chairs I ordered) to accommodate six people at the table. The experience from shopping online, communicating with a dedicated sales rep (Joe) who helped set me up with the best deal, and arrange for the delivery and set up was fabulous! The communication from confirmation of sale, to updates on delivery was above expectations, and come delivery day, the crew showed up a little ahead of schedule, & were able to get everything set up, & haul away any shipping cartons & packing materials when they were finished. The delivery team were respectful of the property & made sure to lay down protective padding while assembling the table.

All in all, I had an EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE with Rooms To Go, and to top it off, shortly after the delivery crew finished, I received a follow up call from them inquiring how the delivery went, and wanting to know if I was satisfied with my purchase, and if everything was delivered in good condition.

I will be visiting Rooms To Go again soon, to select additional room furnishings once my partner & I can agree on what we want next.

From the store’s atmosphere to the care we received inside, our time at Rooms to Go was superb! Within 30 seconds of walking in the door, we were greeted by Christophe with a friendly smile and an offer to assist us in our search for a new dining room table. We let him know that we would be independently looking around the perimeter of the store before asking for any help, and he politely suggested a few to start with. Never did we feel he was being pushy, which is usually our experience when shopping. After reviewing their inventory, we came across a design we loved. Christophe graciously guided us through the various packages and purchasing options available to us. He even directed us to a special they were having which provided us with an additional chair. He was wonderful to speak with, sharing stories of his home country (France) and finding commonalities between our cultures that were fun to discuss. We purchased our favorite set and eagerly awaited our delivery.

The dining set arrived about a week and a half later and was very easy to set up. Full disclosure, we opted out of their offer to assemble it for us for a few extra dollars. It was easy to assemble and looks beautiful in our home. We couldn’t be happier with our overall experience with Rooms to Go. The sales associate was very helpful with assisting me in finding what I need for my daughter's bedroom. She listened intently to help me make the best choice. Despite helping more than one customer at a time, her customer service was excellent. Thank you!

If I could have given her a five star, I would have.

On the other hand, on delivery day, the full-size mattress was not delivered, but was checked off as being delivered. I did not sign for the furniture to accept the furniture because the furniture did not work for the room and instead contacted the store to inquire about a refund and to let them know about the lost mattress.

I was told that signatures were not required anymore and that I could do an exchange. I accepted the exchange, but I am still waiting for the mattress I paid for and have not yet received. Rooms to Go customer service is resolving this issue.

Delivery team seemed rude and rushed.. very unreliable and unprofessional.

The processes for accountability and receipt need to be improved when customers have paid good money for items.

Note: Make the signatures required again to prevent pieces of furniture not being delivered in the future.

Overall, I am not shopping at this particular store again. They do not seem to care at all about customer needs and convenience. They only care about making the money. Once I have received my mattress and my furniture has been exchanged, I am absolutely done shopping at the...
