I have shopped at this Menards since I moved to Elk River 2 years ago, but no more. I am done with racism, and will not spend another dime at this store. If Asian Skin color is offensive I will take it somewhere else and exercise my right to spend my money at another store. In the past, I have put up with staff looking down on me when asking questions about certain items, understanding construction terminology, trying to save money by doing it myself. I have had great pleasure with staff there who have helped me and explained stuff to me as I asked questions. But today April 4, 2025, between 7:45 pm - 8:10 pm, I have had enough of building materials staff racist, idiotic childish behavior, and remarks towards me! If I had not heard it an ear shot away, while I was wheeling the cart with a piece of OSB board attached to a block (wanted to make sure it was the right item and size since I become forgetful) I would not have been too offended. But to hear "Haha here he comes again, and he is carrying a block of wood, he really knows nothing! " The older (chubby) Caucasian staff said to the other younger Caucasian (skinny) staff (the lead staff that day) at the back of the building material counter. The young one laughing saying, "Wondering what he knows what he wants now too?" Rolling his eyes, both smirking, because I had asked questions before and they didn't want to assist or wanted me to figure it out on my own about the product names. I tried to forget it and asked about the OSB board and got the sheet, and went and pay for it. But I went out and into the back to pick up the OSBoard but it hit me that it would fit, and I realized why am I spending money at this store Menards and being treated like crap. So I went back out without the materials and left to get a refund! I have had enough and will stop going to this Menards. Maybe these pros don't need my money, so I go to PROS at Lowes and Home depot. I will get more respect. What these two fine outstanding racist staff failed to realize is that I have figured out how to read the design and bought it at True Value because if you treat customers like me this way, I take my money somewhere else and not give your store another dime. So far I spent over 10K on tools and materials and rental equipment. I get the last laugh as I will return all unused materials back to this Menards and be done with them as I finish my remodel of my house with Lowe's...
Read moreMy experience was terrible! I needed some shingles so I walked all the way to the back of the store to the building products dept. Where a rude man finally helped me order what I needed after trying to get out of it initially!! After he printed my product purchase list I walked back to the front of the store to pay. After standing in 1 of the 3 lanes they had open for approximately 10 to 15 minutes it was my turn to pay and ironically that was also when they opened a 4th check out lane! Once I paid I walked out to my truck and drove to the lumberyard gate line and waited another 5 minutes in that line then I had to ask 3 people where I was supposed to go before someone got me there. Next after searching the entire roofing area and only being able to find 2 of the 5 items I just paid for I find someone to help me again and he also was not able to find the items and ad uses me to go get a credit!! I tell him I can't do a roofing job with 2/5 of the shingles I need!! So I go back in to get a refund and stand in another line for 5 minutes to be treated rudely by customer service which is totally the wrong name for what they do!! I get my money back and went to HOME DEPOT AND GOT MY SHINGLES NOT ONLY CHEAPER BUT IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES START TO FINISH!!!! as bad as I am making this sound it doesn't even really tell how bad the experience was!!! When I told customer service that i was going to tell everyone about this experience her answer was. " Go right ahead and do that!!" To which my response was ok I will!! So my advice go to home depot!!! Not Menards!! At least not the elk...
Read moreThe appliance salesman was horrible. I said I had picked out the dishwasher I wanted. The first thing he said was I hope you don't want the one you asked about originally. I said no, why? He said he sold the last one yesterday. I then showed him the one I wanted. He said with attitude, well that is special order. I questioned about the original one I had asked to see. I said online it showed there were 3 in stock at elk river. He said, you must have looked at the wrong store. I said no, I made sure that it was elk river I selected. He said, you must have been looking at it from a few days ago. I said no,I just downloaded the app this afternoon when my dishwasher stopped working. I specifically looked for stores with in stock. He continued to tell me I must have looked at something wrong. Keep in mind his tone was rude. I tried laughing it off at first, but he kept going with how wrong I was. I am in IT and very tech savvy, I am not my husband who is not tech savvy. I also have little patience for people in customer service who are rude. So, instead of buying from Menards, I went down the road to Home Depot and spent twice as much there. Richard at Home Depot was kind and helpful. I only gave 2 stars because the paint guy that helped my husband was kind even though he was having...
