I don't like hospitals so I only go if I feel I absolutely have to. Went in to the ER for kidney pain recently and had a terrible experience with the all male night staff.
Male nurse was inappropriate because of how I was visibly in pain and uncomfortable in having to be there. I told him I don't like hospitals but he took the moment as a strange opportunity, made assumptions, and started asking me questions about my sexual history. I was even more uncomfortable now and he realized that at least, quickly leaving the room. Being more professional with following interactions.
The male phlebotomist was friendly but had a heavy touch and I ended up bruised because of it. Blood draws are always painful but this was one of the worst I've experienced. The male nurse gave me a shot bragging about how his shots don't hurt just the medicine does and said "you won't bleed so you don't need a band aid". Shocker, the shot did hurt (which I didn't hold against him because all shots always hurt for me) I also did bleed and ended up putting on my own band aid from my back pack first aid kit. Not keen on an open wound in a hospital setting.
The Dr's bedside manner was off putting. Medical staff in Ellensburg are typically cold and treat you like an inconvenience but this was a worse than usual experience. Tests and images were done and I was quickly shooed away which is fair since turns out my pain wasn't a result of something life threatening, but someone needs to do something about KVHs lacking ability to employ and retain caring medical staff.
They also performed a pregnancy test I didn't consent to.
The 3 stars is for the transport tech and intake tech that were...
Read moreThe most recent visit I came because I was having seizures out of nowhere and my fiancé had to take me in. They checked my vitals and the doctor came in and said they couldn't help seizures in that hospital since they have no neurological capabilities and couldn't provide care so they had me leave even though I wasn't walking properly. I was in and out within 20 minutes! "No neurological capabilities" they have CT scans. Even at one point when I went in for a concussion after falling down stairs, after forcing medicine on me I didn't want cause I went in for the concussion, they even offered to schedule an mri in their facility in Ellensburg because I needed one and they one I had scheduled wasn't until awhile later. So I'm not sure what no neurological capabilities means then. But yes it is known that there are no neurologists in Ellensburg. I've been in for other issues too and there was this weird old male nurse who I'd never seen before this time and never saw again, kept talking to me like I was a child in a little baby voice and because of his baby voice childish directions I couldn't do one of the medical tests properly. I'm even seeing here on the reviews that they have occasionally helped people having seizures and I kept seizing the rest of the day, which other medical professionals saw (not in that hospital but in the cwu clinc)so idk what kvh's problem is! For the seizures I had to get taken by my fiancé back to Tacoma to get seen at Tacoma General where they actually tried to help me and by that time I had seized so much I needed a wheelchair. Now I'm getting an ER bill from kvh for 20 minutes of...
Read moreI had my gender ultrasound scheduled a month ago. They confirmed the appointment three times. I arranged child care, my husband blocked out his patients during that time so that he could attend and everything seemed like it was going to go smoothly. They called me an hour before the appointment and canceled because I was shy of twenty weeks. This was frustrating because I had asked when scheduling the appointment if it was going to be okay if I wasn’t twenty weeks and they assured me it was. Today was my rescheduled appointment. I arranged childcare, my husband blocked off his patients so he could attend and I was cautiously optimistic that we would have this ultrasound. Two hours before my appointment, they called and tried to cancel. I tried to refuse and they compromised by giving me a slot for thirty minutes later. I told them this likely won’t work because my husband has patients just like they do and he can’t shuffle them around last minute because their treatment and care matters just like mine does. I showed up for my scheduled appointment with my husband knowing I might be pushed back a half hour. I was, but we waited knowing he’d only be able to attend fifteen minutes of the ultrasound. The technician didn’t show up for the delayed ultrasound time either and I had to leave without the ultrasound. I wish I had somewhere else to go because at this point I can tell that my care is a low priority and will continue to be bounced around because kvh doesn’t have good systems in place to keep their various...
