Has some of the freshest chicken katsu but we feel utterly unwelcome here. We assumed when our waiter didn't talk or check w us at all that he was probably just tired but saw him talking to other customers just fine. There was a minor misunderstanding and he put an order in for an extra Yakisoba so when when we went to pay our bill, which was well over 60 dollars for 4 people, we asked the nice ladies at the front to take it off and they did and were completely chill about it. But then I guess someone told the waiter and he rushed up to us visibly irritated w us and tried to argue w us and say it was all our fault and that we made a mistake. The owner I presume, was there and told him to calm down but he only then began complaining in Japanese to her while we stood there and watched. He was angry and spoke to us like we had stole something or offended him. While the woman there was very kind and understanding, recognizing that it was just a miscommunication, we...
Read moreIt used to be better than it is now, roughly around the beginning of the year they had a very significant price hike. I'm talking like $3-4 dollars up on the majority of their items, and the old prices is what made this place okay for me. The sushi is a pretty big miss, however they have the corner on the market here as there isn't any other restaurants in Ellensburg with a wide variety of sushi. I can't come here anymore, after multiple times of my take out order being messed up, at times the sushi having a very off and old taste and then the two times eating in house that my boyfriend had found a hair in his fried rice I was out. The staff is friendly however they never ask you if you would like want anything to drink besides water which I find odd, but maybe that's just me. This is nothing like the kind of sushi you can get on the West side of the state nor did it expect it to be, but you can get better sushi at the same price...
Read moreI am guessing this place only has good reviews because there are no other Japanese places in the area. The food is mediocre, no better than grocery store sushi. The pork katsu is fine, but any of their tempura items are not good, i think they use a not maintained or old oil. The oil tasted rancid and old, and when I mentioned it to the server he said it was new oil, which makes no sense because he didn’t even go back to the kitchen to check. I have worked in the restaurant industry and I know when oil is either old or not maintained well/cleaned or filtered. During the whole meal, he never checked on us, I had to ask for my own utensils, all he did was hand is our food, I always had to try and get his attention, and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. And food is just not good, but if you’re really craving sushi, I guess you have no other option in the area. Do not recommend, I won’t be...
