I was blown away at my experience at Game Stop! I actually went to two locations and both were phenomenal because of not only exceptional service but both employees were charismatic and went far beyond what we’ve come to expect in retail environments… I felt like both these employees had a stake in what they were doing?? Their knowledge was through the roof and were able to not only answer my questions about specific games but to also fill me in on what to expect going from PS4 to the PS5 platforms including what was best and most cost effective for the way I personally used these systems… And to top it off they were both the only Game Stop employee in the store at the time, just after opening, so they were both extremely busy but handled multitasking extremely well. The way they were both able to articulate a massive amount of information to each customer all while answering the phone, looking up information at their terminal, all the while communicating with the customers in the store in a civil, constructive manner that made me feel welcome and important… This also had an effect on the customer’s where we in-turn were incredibly patient and civil towards each other… For a person who doesn’t look forward to trips out to any retail store my experiences at the Ellicott City and Catonsville GameStop stores was outstanding! I wish every retail store had employees of such high quality...
Read moreBefore coming into the store, I checked on both the GameStop website and on the mobile app to make sure this store had the item I was looking for (it isn't the most common thing so I didn't want to assume they had it, wanted to make sure). When I told the gentleman working what I was looking for, he proceeded to look on the computer in the store, he then tells me they are out of stock. I told him that it said it was in stock in this store, he then just tells me that Rolling Rd store has it in stock. Most of the time, when I say something about it being online, they will check the shelves. This kid didn't even leave behind the desk. He had a slight attitude and this is the same attitude I get from almost every person I've dealt with in the past at this store except for a gentleman I've dealt with a few times named Tony. They have this "better than thou" attitude about them. Yet, the one time I have been to the Rolling Rd store, they have been nothing but incredibly kind and helpful. Even though this store is right around the corner from my house, I am going to be driving 4 miles away just so I don't have to deal with their attitudes ever again. They really need to start being helpful and stop being annoyed at those that aren't...
Read moreToday is November 12, 2024. I walked in as an older lady was trading in all of her video games, and I saw 3 ds’s, a Toys “R” Us, exclusive Game Boy advance. Multiple games for all the consoles. Tons of manuals, boxes for the systems and other systems. They offered her $12 for each of the systems. The employee made a pile of the boxes behind the counter and told her he’d take them even though he can’t sell them. Fully telling her as a collector and knowing the value that was being put there. He also took a poke Walker for “his stash” behind the counter. I spoke up because this was completely unfair to her. He as a collector said I know what she has here. Then I said ma’am they are fully ripping you off. I had to walk out because it was completely unfair to her. I had to walk out, that was probably the worst thing I’ve watched at a GameStop in my years of being a customer.I’m sure they took all the manuals as well. She had well over $300 worth of game stuff. Telling someone that they can’t sell boxes but the guy making his own stash of exclusive gameboy boxes behind the counter is unacceptable. If I could give a zero...
