I want to share my delight with others regarding Bauman College: Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts programs. My journey through both programs has been incredible. I started in the Holistic Nutrition Program, and now I am in the Holistic Chef Program. I really cannot say enough great things about each program. I am currently in the Holistic Chef Program, and I love all of the essential things that I am learning so far. It is a beautiful experience to learn about fresh herbs and spices and their nutritional components. I have always been interested in pairing foods, herbs, and spices together to get the most nutritional content. I am so grateful to be learning from such unique and world-class chefs and professionals. This program feels like it's connecting me back to the ancestral roots of my grandparents and my great grandparents and the generations that came before them. Cooking is very grounding for me, and it feels like this is a part of myself that was missing for a long time and is now being fully integrated into the person I am becoming and want to be. This program energizes me! It is so exciting to be in the kitchen and preparing top-notch recipes, gourmet tasting, meals that are also great for a person's health and longevity and are sustainable. I am learning to think about where my food comes from, who grew it, and how far it was transported. I am more mindful of the time and energy that goes into our food system. I have a deeper and more humble awareness of the amount of food that goes to waste, and I now have a new approach to minimize waste in my kitchen, thanks to the Bauman Holistic Chef Program. I am becoming more informed about food choices and substitutions. Healthy and "just as tasty" food options are available that are not challenging to create. Healthy eating can taste good and better than I ever thought it could. The recipes I am making are outstanding! Read moreBauman College opened up a world and a career for me that I had never imagined. I was burned out from working in the entertainment industry for 20+ years and knew I needed a change. I decided to go to traditional culinary school, but found that none of the instructors in that school could answer my questions of WHY we were preparing certain foods for people so, I enrolled in Bauman College's online Nutrition Consultant program and never looked back.
For the first time in my life I felt excitement about the material I was studying. Learning about how nutrients impact our bodies and how sometimes healthy foods can actually cause disease and inflammation in some people blew my mind. I gained the skills to tailor a diet to an individual and, during my externship experience, started teaching this information to large groups in corporate settings as well as community organizations.
A decade later, I still work with some of these organizations, presenting classes to older adults teaching them how to cook nutrient dense meals and choose foods that will be healing from them. I also run my private nutrition consulting practice, Two Hearts Nutrition, helping individuals navigate the very complicated and personal world of food to restore their energy and better manage their health. I never get tired of helping my clients put the puzzle pieces together to find a way to nourish themselves. I can finally see the difference I'm making in people's lives with my work.
Over the years, I've also worked as the Wellness Educator for a big bone broth company, authored a healthy eating cookbook, and worked as an instructor for several colleges teaching cooking and nutrition classes. I've come full circle back to Bauman College and manage the Holistic Chef Culinary Program where we not only teach you to cook delicious meals, but also show WHY these foods are health supportive and HOW you can utilize them to help people heal.

Read moreParticipating in this wonderful training was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Through the readings, multimedia resources and reflective exercises, I harvested a bounty of practical knowledge that informs the way I think about food, food systems, and eating for health. The holistic chef program truly has provided me with the necessary skills to enter the culinary world with confidence, creativity, curiosity and resourcefulness as a chef and a businessperson. A big part of the magic of this program for me was the online format, which allowed me to apply all of my learning in my own kitchen, and to nourish my family and my community with my culinary creations. In addition to learning how to prepare beautiful, nourishing food, I learned how to steward my kitchen with intention and a deep level of organization. The chef instructors are absolutely amazing, and they create a circle of care, supportive community and practical wisdom that is the secret sauce of the Holistic Chef program. In addition to receiving ongoing support through the weekly virtual classes and one on one check- ins with the chefs, while I was working on my weekly labs, the chefs and teaching assistants were always available to connect with me, help me troubleshoot, and offer tips, strategies and support. I am so grateful to these wonderful chefs. Their mentorship and role modeling has ignited my passion and given my culinary life roots and wings.
