Hands down the best California burrito in Norther California. Everything is always super fresh when I get a burrito here and I love that they cook the fries for the burrito right in front of you. The meat is well seasoned and they don't skimp on any aspect of the burrito -- I'm always surprised at how much guacamole they put on their food!
To people complaining that prices are high, there's a couple reasons for it and I'm glad the owner hasn't mentioned one in particular--the minimum wage. In Emeryville the minimum wage is higher than in San Francisco! (At least right now, that's set to change when SF increases their's, but still this is significant.) I think its noteworthy when a small business pays its employees well -- and doesn't complain about it when discussing prices.
It's also clear that Best Coast uses high quality ingredients. And finally, man their burritos are two meals. So if you pay 10 bucks for a burrito, you're really paying for 5 dollars a meal. I know I can buy one in the morning and eat it throughout the day and pretty much stretch it to 3 meals. So I hope that between these three reasons and to support a local business, you'll try em out! You won't be sorry and there aren't many great burrito opportunities in Emeryville, so I'm glad they are here.

Read moreFirst impressions were good upon walking in. It's clean and the menu is easy to understand. You walk up to the counter, you order the type of food you want... bowl, burrito, quesadilla, nachos, etc. Then you order your protein, of which there are many. I'm a vegetarian so I went with the veggie. Then you run down the line and tell them what to add. They loaded my bowl with plenty of rice, beans, veggies, guacamole, and salsa. It's a lot like the system at Chipotle, but it doesn't taste the same at all.
My son ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon. He said it was the best he has ever eaten. My other son ordered a carnitas bowl and loved it. I got the veggie bowl and I liked it. I found the black beans to be a little bland but when I added all the hot salsa and guacamole, they added plenty of flavor. My husband also got the veggie bowl and he absolutely loved it. He kept commenting on the sliced jalapenos. Apparently, they were amazing. I will add those to my bowl the next time we go. We'll...
Read moreFood was great but I don't know if the lady behind the counter has ever worked there before. I didn't have a lot of money so I kept trying to find out how much my burrito would cost but she was just ignoring me and started making the burrito without answering me... eventually just said "Look at the menu". Okay, well it's not on there since it's a temporary item and the price wasn't listed on the sign advertising it.
Could not get her to answer me about any of the prices. Then she tells me the total is $20 since I got "extras" (guac, salsa, and some other toppings.) NEVER told me any of it would cost extra btw. I usually go to a local taqueria that makes burritos twice as large and much fresher and has the prices for all the items right on the menu. Like what is even the point of coming here... Never going here again. Please just save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. There are so many better burrito...
