I walked into the bar and the crowd stops and stares momentarily. they alI knew I was packing heat. if they said the wrong thing and they be done in by me. I sat down and stared down the bar keep but the toolman was too yella n didn't want to look me in the eye. just pretended they didn't want my business. I spat the Chew... completely missed the can. kicked the dirt off my boots. I made sure to let the patrons know my belt was equipped with smelling salts, fireproof matches, and viagra. you know, in case stuff went down. I picked my nose for a bit to clear up my nose and sniffed my bath salts hard as. and then when I least expected it I finally got served. they served justice in a cold mug. the message was loud and clear. don't come back if you aren't going to share your rock salts. I didn't tip and I felt bad so I came back and wrote this review. Honestly, shout out to the african american(?) guy with the apron that acknowledged me after 10 minutes of sitting and waiting at the bar....
Read moreBy far the best bar in the East Bay. Mostly known to the locals and those who work nearby, Branch Line has developed a cult following that is well deserved. Those who I have introduced to it love the spot and return. Great food, with arguably the best burger around, and an excellent chicken pho and poke ahi. They always have great bartenders and quality liquor at reasonable prices. The owner takes great pride in making this place as close to Cheers as possible for every patron that walks in the door. It really is as close at it gets. There is a solid crew of friendly regulars who are always adopting new orphans.

But this time we noticed something had changed. The service and cocktails were still great, and the food tasted good but wow, the portions were shockingly small. Like half of what we got last time. The fries covered only half the plate. The “full” salad was half the size it used to be.
