I’m sure it must be ridiculously frustrating for newcomers to read all these Aldi reviews as they’re all over the place. Today was my first visit so I’m writing my review strictly based on my experience. Please understand I had no idea whatsoever to expect. Upon arrival I went to grab a cart and realized you need a quarter to unlock one for use. Good to know. I walked in to what I can only describe as a clean but mishmashed jumble of items. First, almost everything in the store is sold under Aldi brand names. Brawny is “Boulder,” sandwich cookies are sold in the same no name big packs I had back in kindergarten, etc. From bacon to soda to toilet paper - you will find very few name brand items while shopping. The produce was decent with knock off brand bananas, apples, oranges, etc. There were a few unique fruit items sold under Hispanic labels. I started adding things to my cart that were cheap just because I’d never had them and found them interesting (think vanilla cream brioche bread and peppered jerky). I then began looking for the items I needed...prepackaged jello, applesauce and paper towels. I located applesauce (unknown cheap brand,) absolutely no jello cups anywhere, cheaper paper towels but none made of the thicker material to which I’m accustomed. I checked the freezer section for sherbet and found the selection of all ice cream related items to be very limited and unappealing. I gave up and headed to the front to pay. Two lanes were open / in use with four people waiting in one, two in the other. Their carts were quite full of canned goods, soda and frozen items and weren’t going anywhere fast. I looked in my cart, pushed it away and walked out with nothing. The wait definitely wouldn’t have been worth it. In closing, while it certainly wasn’t a horrible experience, it’s something I won’t do again. I left knowing the following: if you like name brand items, not for you. If you like your grocery store to be really organized, not for you. If you want the big selection of various items you typically find in Kroger, Meijer or Walmart, not for you. Flip side: If you want low prices, head on in. If you don’t mind a really limited selection of items, head on in. If you don’t particularly care about your grocery store being laid out well / organized, head on in. If you don’t mind waiting in longer lines to save money, head on in. I would like to address all the complaints about the rude staff. I only dealt with one person and he was stocking shelves. He was extremely friendly but in all fairness, we only made brief small talk. The store is obviously understaffed so I can fully understand their frustration. The attitude and disposition of some store patrons was, shall I type, lesser? They were there only to save money and didn’t care how they treated the cashiers. Add that to making close to minimum wage and maybe that explains their not overly helpful attitude. I realize that doesn’t make it right but I’m also a realist...
Read moreI've heard of Aldi's before, but never went in one. This place is great. The prices are phenomenal! If you just want simple food, quality food, the food you need for a normal life, this is the place. But, they also have some higher priced specialty items to mix things up. They don't have a ton of grocery items like a Kroger, or Safeway. They don't have that kind of variety, they only have one or two choices of similar items, but the prices are great. The price of fruit and vegetables is amazingly low. I've found a lot of items I love at Aldi's. They have some very good prepared foods in nice portions in the refrigerated section. They are the kind of foods that you would get in a good restaurant, and pay a whole lot more for. They have Italian foods like Ravioli, Cannaloni, and Lasagna. They have very good Take and Bake Pizzas. The best things are some great main courses that serve 2 people. They are only about $6.00, which is less Tha a burger at a fast food restaurant. These meals tast amazing. They have Hawaiian Chicken, Thai Chicken, BBQ Pork, Brocolli stuffed Chicken, Roast Pork, Fajita Chicken, Burnt Pork Ends. Every one of these dishes can be served with rice, potatoes, noodles, etc. This stuff moves fast. Update. I still continue to be impressed with Aldi, and am glad they are close to where I live. I wish they had more locations in the area. Aldi has the basic thing most people need, and want. They also have a lof of healthier foods, and less junk like candy, soda, etc. I think I eat better due to shopping at Aldi, because I am not in a huge store filled with things I...
Read moreI really like shopping at this store but didn't appreciate the cashier trying to embarrass me in the store today at around 10:18 I told my cashier Ethan that I forget some things and if any one comes to check out to just put my box of items to the side so instead he rings it all up while I'm gathering my items I forget so the cashier next to him decided to yell across the store are you ready because other people are waiting. So I tried to explain to the dumb female cashier that thinks she knows it all that he was suppose to set my items to the side and she tried to tell me there was know where for him to put it well dummy how about he could of set the box on your belt directly behind him since you closed down your register and why didn't you send them to the next girl that just opened her register like you did to all the other customers as you were shutting down SMH some people don't need...
