Check-in was done with a really nice guy that got me a room for 2 nights after I accidentally booked my room for next month, not this weekend. At 1st glance the room seemed really nice. Tried to send my boys to shower when I noticed there was only 1 towel in the bathroom. Went and got more towels from the front desk with no problem. Next morning I found out the door to the room didn't latch closed (I had locked it from the inside the night before so I didn't realize it then). I finally got it closed by slamming it. A nice lady housekeeper heard me slam the door n asked if I was ok. I told her the problem and she helped me get my room moved for safety reasons. This lady was amazing! She went to the front desk and told them to move my room close by because I had my kids and grandsons with me. Moved right across the hall...I pushed the door open without using the key card. Was going back to the front to tell them when I saw the housekeeper lady. I showed her that door and the issue. She took me to a vacant room that the door worked properly. This room was really nice! I had towels, hand towels, and wash clothes...lol! The room itself was very clean. They had a breakfast buffet with a variety of options. They had a bar that closed early on Friday because of no customers but Saturday it was open. I couldn't go in because I had my 3 yr old grandson with me but it looked nice and there were people there looking like they were having a good time. I was sooooo disappointed in the fact that the pool was closed. The ONLY reason I booked this room in the 1st place was to take my kids and grandkids swimming for the weekend. I came from WI to spend time with them. But I was told it was closed the next day when I asked about it...I should've asked before I paid for the room. But on Orbitz this place is listed to have an indoor pool. Whatever...I made the best of it and took the kids to the Air Force Museum which isn't that far from this hotel. Still had a great weekend. If you're looking for a room, breakfast buffet, and bar onsite... this is the place to stay. Plus the staff were so nice, amazing, and helpful...you don't find...
Read moreI called this hotel before commuting into the Dayton International Airport to confirm that they provided transportation to and from the airport. They said they did. When I arrived at the airport and called them, they said that they could not get ahold of their driver to come pick me up. It was a $15.95 Uber ride to the hotel. They did not offer reimbursement. ||The room was okay, about what I expected for a Clarion Inn. Breakfast was standard hotel breakfast. Location is good for proximity to a park with hiking/running/biking trails, restaurants, and grocery store. I went for a run before checking out and needed a shower. The shower provided a trickle of water. I ended up turning on the tub faucet and laying on the tub floor to rinse my hair out. It was far from ideal.||I requested a refund for 50% of cost of my stay at checkout as the main purpose one usually stays at a hotel is for a comfortable bed and a warm shower. I did not get the latter. The front desk attendant told me she did not have the authority to make that decision and directed me to email a video of the showerhead's performance to the hotel manager and gave me an email address. I did this while standing there. I followed up 48 hours later after receiving no response. ||I have attempted to call this hotel numerous times since this stay and no one answers the phone. I contacted corporate Choice Hotels and they apologized for this franchise owners lack of attention by giving me 8000 points to use toward a stay at one of their other hotels. Most hotels in this area require 12-20,000 points for a free nights stay. A month has passed with no response from this hotel. ||The morning I left, the hotel driver was there. He was a kind, older gentleman. He told me that they never called him the day before to come get me. He insisted I sit in the front seat of the van as it had an airbag and he wanted me to be safe. He would not accept a tip for handling my bags. He was the highlight of my stay. Good conversation and...
