Yuck. Cutesy store, really more of an "outdoorsy" fashion boutique than a hiking store (also, there's a disconnect with hiking and the motorcycle in window??). We were very rudely treated by what I'm assuming is the owner (a man who appeared to be in his mid 60's), who was at the check-out area. He never greeted me or my boyfriend or asked if we needed help. We were the only ones in the store at the time. I had several questions about some items but got "blown off" by this person in a very rude way, as if we were bothering him. I noticed the items in the store were pretty expensive and I know that you can get the same at REI or at a couple of other "real" outdoor/hiking stores that are also located in Estes Park, where the prices are better, the staff is much friendlier, helpful, knowledgeable, and are not rude (and the selection is way better). This store looks like a post retirement project for someone who is trying to pose as an outdoor person. Take your money elsewhere for good outdoor/hiking equipment and better service, and where the people are...

Decent store with good selection BUT they will not take returns. They have no written policy, nothing is posted they and do not inform you at point of sale. When we tried to make a return the owner became belligerent and rude immediately. Absolutely unprofessional, very aggressive and intimidating to the point of scary. He went to the extent of insulting my wife. Someone should do a background check on this guy. There are a lot of good merchants in Estes but Hyk is not one of them. I'd really think twice about buying anything from them because you are on your own after the sale and can expect rude and rough treatment if you need to...

Awesome outdoor store. We were visiting from out of town and just doing some souvenir shopping when we stopped in to look around. The lady working that evening (might have even been the owner) was incredibly knowledgeable about her inventory and was extremely patient to answer any questions I had. I ended up purchasing an Osprey backpack and a new hat but we very much look forward to coming back and making more purchases.
