Macdonald Book Shop — Local services in Estes Park

Cozy bookstore with a nice variety of choices. They had a lot of informative outdoor materials and I would recommend stopping here before your outdoor adventures (since I didn't get much service in the national park)! They had books ranging from RMNP hiking maps, Colorado wildflower field guides, and pocket books to help identify animal tracks! They even had some nice brief laminated pamphlets on how to identify birds of prey, common RMNP animals, and wild mushrooms that you might spot on your hikes! I would highly recommend stopping if you have young kids so that you can grab some educational materials to keep them engaged at the park!

I would like to note that they also had a wonderful selection of other kinds of books (fiction, poetry, science, crafts, young adult, etc). I just wished I had stopped by before the end of my trip to pick up some information guides for my hikes.

For everyone's safety, the store asks people to wear masks and sanitize their hands before handling books.

The owner was very sweet and they didnt mind that we stayed a while geeking out and perusing...

I hope your able to share this with your employees to help them understand the book community's loyalty to book stores. We love the adventure of finding a new one and being able to explore. Its really disappointing that we were not allowed to do that tonight. We will try again tomorrow and update this review.

turned away customers before closing, i work at a bookstore and will always let the last customer in because i know we share the same passion. its just good business practice. lock the doors when its actually closing time. lock the door behind your last customer of the day. dont just let someone in then tell them youre...

I love Estes in general, but there’s something to be said about a beautiful bookstore to walk into…to ignite the imagination of a world of wonder. Now I’m a lover of book anyway…but the clerks were amazingly helpful, they had the cutest book marks, book lights…etc for any book lover. They also do these cute book buys they call Blind dates…where you can’t see the cover or title…they are wrapped, they do give a little info….but what a fun way to truly not judge a book by its cover…so fun 🤩 and they are all age groups and types…so it’s like a box of chocolate…you don’t know exactly what you’re gonna get….mysterious...
