My daughter on the East Coast wanted to surprise me so she bought me a haircut and color from Studio 408 for my birthday. I had not had my haircut since covid-19.. I arrived, and Elizabeth was my hair stylist. We went to her station, and I explained to her how I wanted to donate some of my length to cancer survivors to make wigs. In order to donate, you need a minimum of 8 inches but Elizabeth said it was 10 inches. I told her to make sure there was enough of my length to cut my hair in the back into a V and the sides to blend in. My hair was down to my waist, so I knew I had the length. She then, without any further discussion, went behind me and, using the side of her hand, counted up my hair out loud to 10 and then snipped my hair off. She didn't bother to use a ruler, she just guessed. I knew there was plenty of length, so I trusted she knew what she was doing? She then trimmed a little on each side. She told me the foils were free for my birthday, which she did not honor! While rinsing my hair, she was yanking, pulling and squeezing on my hair so hard it gave me a headache! This headache lasted for 2 days! After she dried my hair, she said, "You're done," and went to the customer service counter. I had to ask her twice for my hair she had cut for cancer survivors because i did not see it at her station anywhere? Finally, she went in the back and brought out this pony tail that looked like it was not all there? I left and called my daughter, and she ended up having to pay $200 for my hair! She said I only got a dollar discount for the toner, not the foils? Elizabeth lied . Upon arriving home, I finally was able to get a mirror to see the back of my hair because she never offered me one, and I understand why now. Elizabeth did not cut my hair into a V cut at all! She cut it very short and straight across! There was plenty of length to do what I wanted. We measured the ponytail I got back, and she had cut 16 inches off my length! This was from her just guessing. I have never had such a horrible haircut! She did nothing of what I asked for! My daughter contacted Hair Studio 408, and Elizabeth said she could try to fix it and cut it into a V shape, but it would be shorter! Well, why didn't you cut my hair the way I wanted in the first place?? Why Elizabeth did you guess and therefore end up cutting 16 inches off my length! That was six more inches than what was needed. There was plenty of hair to do what I wanted, but you didn't do anything that I wanted and cost my young daughter $200! I want you to give a full refund for this...
Read moreI called this morning and spoke with Elizabeth. I got hair extentions at another salon and wanted the cut fixed. I've been desperately looking for another hairstylist after getting ripped off by mine. My hairstylist charged me $800 for 80 pieces of 22" tape in extentions. I've already contacted Zala and confirmed I was overcharged by over $300. I was telling Elizabeth about this and she says that hairstylists are allowed to do that. WHAT!!!??? Sooooo.... just so we're clear guys- that's like ordering a $100 car part and getting charged $400 by the mechanic for ordering it. Uh- that's shady. I told her that that should be illegal, that I could order them myself and bring them into a hairstylist and have them put them in and save $300. She then eagerly said, "What is it that you want from us?" Her tone was pretty annoyed sounding lol- I responded by telling her I was looking for another hairstylist that wasn't going to rip me off like that and that could do the upkeep from now on. I then said it sounded like she wasn't interested though. Elizabeth then responded... "No, we're not interested." And we hung up.
Listen- I'm sure Elizabeth is a nice person to the right people. Apparently I landed in the category of "not right people" so she felt the need to not want to work with me. That's fine. That's her choice of course. But I beg to challenge the purpose of making me feel like I did something wrong when I clearly was overcharged at another place. Possibly because Elizabeth may hold the same practice of upcharging products that are ordered through them? Seemed a little weird she got so defensive about it. Anyways the whole conversation was recorded and will be uploaded to a Facebook review. I'm a huge part of the modeling community here in Eugene and really just feel it needs to be shared after the experience I had. It's scary not understanding the hair world and trusting your hairstylist. It's another thing clearly being taken advantage of financially by them and then having no support from other providers when searching for help/relief.
I cried my eyes out after getting off the phone with Elizabeth. Thanks.
Response to Owners comment:
Liar. You never said any of those things to me. The entire conversation was recorded. And I might remind you my whole purpose of this review was the way you treated me, not that you knew knowledge of anything, lol. But you didn't even respond to that. No.... you're a very...

First off. Thank you Kenai! Mom life had got me stuck in a rut and Grey coming out everywhere. Kenia gave me a great color and cut even under a hurried time restraint due to my work. She was great energy and made the time fly with great conversation. If you're looking for an uptight stylist look elsewhere.Kenia is not like most stylist and it's a great thing! Couldn't be happier, this girls got talent!
What was uncomfortable was the energy the owner or manager was giving to my stylist. At one point asking her if she found $100 in the bathroom but not just asking it was her energy and the way she spoke to the clearly younger stylist. And and then she kept walking by giving this look and energy I could not put my finger on. WHAT WAS ICING ON the cake for me was when i went to leave this person questioned why I was leaving with wet hair then proceeded to come over and take a towel and wipe my face and neck which had color on it. The degrading way in which this women's energy was to kenai was uncomfortable. I've never been to a salon where another stylist or owner pushes herself or her energy on someone else's client and questions what a stylist is doing or a customer.
Kenia I would go back to in a heartbeat. Studio 408 has work to do on their energy and the way they treat their younger stylist. Unless this is a training program which your website does not state and your prices do not reflect such there is absolutely no reason for it. And even if you are training girl your attitude and energy stinks.
Psst to the blonde owner manager or lead stylist your attitude and energy can be seen and felt a mile away, it's uncomfortable . Try being a leader There's a way to teach and lead that doesn't include degrading. There's a time a place to give feedback and a way in which you encourage others.
If this energy was uncomfortable for me I can't imagine how it is to work in all day and also how it...
