I wanted to shout out my favorite local cafe! Pictured is The Jewel (my all-time fave, one of the best things I've ever eaten - two warm biscuit halves, sweet pepper jelly, bacon, soft egg, sesame seeds), their Sugar Pine Honey Latte, and their coffee cake.
As a former southerner, let me say: their biscuits are just perfect--crisp edges, perfectly soft middle, incredible texture. They make everything in-house, with a different selection of pastries and baked goods every day. I've rotated between their lattes/coffees both soft and hot, sandwiches with herbed bread, the Gone Country (savory biscuit with toppings), Bee's Knees (biscuits with local honey and butter), the South Pine (biscuits and sausage gravy - again, as a southerner, it's just so delish), and various sweets like chocolate chip cookies (literally perfect, my boyfriend and I talk about them constantly because they're the best we've ever had), baklava, cinnamon roll, cardamon roll, coffee cake, etc. The staff/owners are always sweet and working so hard every time I go in. When my family flew in, I brought them there first thing, and they were floored by how amazing everything was.
Moving to Oregon, I felt like I needed to find a nice cafe/bakery to ground me (plus, feed my coffee and sweet cravings and give me that warm feeling). This place really deserves...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNeeded a cake for my son's 21st birthday. The problem? He adores red velvet cake, everyone else hates it. So, the baker made two cakes, one chocolate and one red velvet and stacked them, beautifully frosted. Here's the kicker, though. We all had a bite of the red velvet cake, and agreed it was hands-down the best red velvet cake any of us had EVER eaten. I can only assume that this is what red velvet cake is supposed to taste like. From this day forward, I will only eat HER red velvet cake. Seriously, she has a gift, and I'm here to tell you she doesn't charge enough for it. In Denver, my hometown, it would have cost half again as much for a custom cake with this level of artistry. As far as we're concerned, she's the ONLY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve come here many times. The food is always great. The coffee is pretty good too, not the best, but it is good enough to come back for. The service, though. The older man who is always working as the cashier, who I assume is possibly the owner (because heās always there) is not warm, friendly, or welcoming in any way. He has absolutely no customer service: no smiles, no helpful suggestions, & any requests made while ordering from him have made us feel like we are burdening him by even ordering anything. We continue to come back because the location is convenient to us, but I wanted to make the owners/management aware that him being the āface of the businessā is in no way portraying a...
