Wow, where to begin. My first time experiencing this restaurant was on a date with the husband..long overdue. I first noticed the part of town the restaurant is seated in, which is very upscale and neatly tucked away from typical Eugene rift raft.
Upon entering, my husband and I were immediately greeted by a smiling hostess and seated in a spot of our choosing. Sunday evening at 7 pm, dinner was slow this time, so we were fortunate.
Our server was at our table within a minute and a half and had water for us in seconds. We took maybe 5-7 minutes to pick our entree but ordered the frickles appetizer to start. We got those only minutes after ordering. They were served in a round silver tin can with a spicy house aeoli, and 'oh my goodness', were they delicious 😋.
For dinner, I ordered the fish (wild Alaskan cod) and chips, and my husband ordered the seasonal fish. My cod was fairly basic, but in a very good way. With just the right amount of beer batter and a hint of dill to give it an earthy flavor, it was some of the better fish and chips I've ever tasted. Fries were simple, seasoned fries but were good. My husband's meal.. and I only know the taste because he force fed me a bite almost immediately and let me just tell you there was an explosion of flavors, was divine. The fish was cooked to perfection 👌 and the pasta and sauce combo really jived well with the halibut (current seasonal fish).
Sadly, we did not try any brews or spirits 😕 but I can only imagine the beverages are just as good as the food.
For the dining experience... the tables are seated a little close together, but the open kitchen and bar give the restaurant a spacious feel to it. High ceilings and two televisions above the bar make it feel homey, while smaller individual tables and outdoor patio seating lend to a more upscale vibe. The facilities are well kept, and our server was very professional and delightful while keeping our glasses full.
Pricing - I believe the fish and chips were around $15, and the seasonal fish was closer to $20, just for reference. Well worth the cost for the dining experience we had. Will most definitely be returning to this establishment...
Read moreWe've been coming here for 6 years now. The food is usually good and the service very good. However, I ordered online for the SECOND time in a month and both times they received the order but just didn't make it so we had to wait at the restaurant while it was being made. This is highly annoying because we were charged a $2.50 convenience fee and a 10% tip. This time they also got the order wrong. We asked for a side of malt vinegar and ranch and didn't get it. Also didn't get ketchup or the pickle spear that came with the sandwich. The lady at the restaurant apologized but any restaurant should automatically discount the food, refund an item or give us a gift card for next. This should be AUTOMATIC. Nobody should have to ask for it. I called the restaurant to communicate this to the manager and conveniently they weren't available.
We have had good service pretty much every time we dine in but the to-go service sucks!! And they did absolutely nothing to redeem themselves.
This restaurant has also pretty much had the same old tired menu it's had since they opened in 2017 or whenever it was. They need to offer more vegetarian as well as we have a family member who is vegetarian. There's no sandwich or main entree that is even close to being vegetarian. Also, how hard is it to add a couple of new items to the menu once or twice a year? They no longer even offer specials anymore or at least not nearly as often. Their brunch menu also sucks because there's basically 1 vegetarian dish. Everything else has pork, pork, pork.
Needless to say, we won't be ordering online again and will only go in when we have nowhere else to dine. I certainly hope their management sees this and starts to make changes to make them a more desirable...
Read moreMy partner and I decided to come here for the first time as I've lived here for 11 years and I've been meaning to try it since I've heard amazing things about it. Well, I guess I should've tried it years ago because what we had tonight wasn't the best by any means. We got sat pretty quickly at a center table but then was served warm tap water with no ice and no lemon. Our server, Azalea, was pleasant and asked us about drinks and let us know we had about 2 minutes left of happy hour. I said that's fine but it was our first time there. We ordered 2 cocktails and a small plate of truffle fries for an appetizer. (Now those were great) My partner asked what the "specials consisted of" and she was knowledgeable about them and the prices. I had wanted the surf and turf and ordered it medium rare like I always do, and since NOTHING else came with it, I ordered a side of mashed potatoes. My partner ordered the special pasta of the night and added chicken ( She wasn't told that it was going to be a blackened chicken). When the food came, I had asked for steak sauce of any sort and was informed that they do not carry any in-house....I'm sorry...what?!? Ok, I will make due. I cut open my steak, and it's RARE, but at this moment, waiting almost 30 minutes after our appetizer, I was hungry and not going to wait any longer for my food to sit. The potatoes were bland, but the 5 shrimp that they put on the plate with some green sauce on it was okay. Everything had a smokey taste to it like it was sitting in a grill overnight. Oh and if you're looking for somewhere quiet to actually hear and talk to your friends or family...not the place. The...
