Mike Miller's hats are the best value in modern hat making. I ordered a beaver fur, granite-colored, "Whippet" style fedora (based on Stetson's 1953 creation). Instead of the diamond-shaped crown, I asked Mike to make me a truly custom crown dent by making it a "Seeing Double" (a double-C crown).

Think of it as a Stetson with what could be found on Roy Roger's "Western Hat" crown dent. I will have the only one like it in the world!

In November, I'll be ordering a special black, beaver fur, Bowler with a triple-shellacked body. This is being done so that it will have the original "helmet hat" integrity of the first Lock & Co. Bowler. It won't cost me $495.00 - $500.00 to have it manufactured by Lock & Co, then shipped from England, either!

I'll continue buying from Mike for my stage hats so that I can have the finest "working wardrobe" covers in the business. I'll also recommend him to everyone I meet. Remember, you can either buy it nice,or buy it twice!

Mike is the best in the business. When I need the best, I won't go to any other hatter on the market. I have stopped buying "second rate" headgear.

Why...

I am on the other side of the country in Virginia, and communicated with Mike at Northwestern Hat Company on creating a custom hat for me. Mike was incredibly polite and communicative throughout the entire process. I learned more than I ever knew about hats and hat making from him, and through the whole process he made me feel like I was the only customer he had.

Despite being on the opposite coast, a shippable hat conformer was sent out to me in order to get the exact measurement and shape of my head for the hat, and the conformer arrived incredibly quickly, and my measurements are on file for any future hat purchases, of which I've already made one.

I do believe the website says that there is an estimated 6 month wait time for custom hats, but the wait is well worth it. When the hat arrives and you first put it on, the quality of the hat is evident from the get-go.

Amazing quality, amazing knowledge of hats, and superb customer service. I will go nowhere else but Northwest Hat Company for all my future hats.
