I went in here with my service dog and was immediately told they do not allow dogs. My service animal had a vest on and I informed them that she is a service dog. The worker left it alone and I continued through the store for maybe a minute before the owner decided to come up to me and say I have to leave because of my service dog. I informed her again that she is a service dog and the owner said she has allergies and an emotional issue with pet ownership so she does not allow service animals in and she bragged about how she has been kicking out people with service animals for over 40 years. This is a disgusting case of discrimination and violating my federally protected rights which she was more than okay with. This business is breaking the law to discriminate against anyone the owner pleases. No business should be able to get away with this and as she bragged about and based off of other reviews this is not a one time issue either. There have been many instances she has done this with a clear disregard for people's rights and is being willful in her discrimination as attempts have been made to educate her on the matter yet she still refuses to reconsider her...
Read moreWe have been in the area most of the Summer. We went into this store previously and had a great time shopping. Went in tonight to celebrate a milestone for my oldest daughter and we were treated terribly by the older woman who worked there. She treated my kids like criminals even though there were other teenagers in there roaming about. My middle daughter was really upset and in tears when we left. She gave me dirty looks and then rang up someone else instead of us when we were clearly in line. I felt so hurt that she needed to treat us like that on what was supposed to be a treat that my girls had looked forward to all week. I will admit my 7 year old was having a hard time and throwing a fit that I was struggling to keep under control but she was tired and being crabby which is not uncommon for 7 year old's and I had no choice but to bring her. I am sad that I have given this place money after tonight. I wish people could treat others with respect, especially those with all the acceptance flags and signs. We deserved...
Read moreThey don’t care about loyal shoppers, sadly. I’ve shopped here for over 15 years to support local businesses. I received a gift and wanted to exchange it, but they were completely rigid about not accepting a return that was just outside their two week return window. I didn’t even receive the gift in time to return it, it was given to me by someone who was traveling and planned ahead. The woman at the register handed it back with a smug smile about how it’s their policy, period. The owner acted like she had never seen me before (we had spoken multiple times over the years) and told me that their return policies are important for reasons “I don’t expect you understand “ 🤪 How patronizing and unhelpful. Meanwhile, they clearly still sell that item and could easily have accommodated my request for an exchange. What an awful retail experience. I will never shop here again. Stumble & Relish and Nice Lena, both on Chicago ave near Dempster, are always kind and helpful, and that’s who I’m...
