Service was fine and the atmosphere is decent.
What really stunned me here was the amazing food! For starters I had the Som Tum Thai. I wasn't expecting a salad to really surprise me, but the dressing was very well made and worked perfectly with the texture of the papaya shreds. It was a balance fruity, savory, and sweet flavors that really seemed to be the theme for most of the food items I ordered.
Afterwards, I had the grilled pork shoulder which had a great smoky flavor that paired very well with the spicy and savory sauce that came with it. I really liked the touch of paprika in the sauce that really brought together the whole dish.
The Tom Yum soup was decent, but it didn't compare to what came next! The duck curry was absolutely splendid, the duck was roasted to the perfect crispiness that melted in my mouth! It was almost as crispy as Korean fried chicken without even having any fried batter on it! The curry sauce itself was well balanced in heat, sweetness, and savoriness. I normally don't like coconut milk based curries because it feels like the coconut flavor can overpower everything else, but this wasn't the case here. The flavor balance was perfect and just had a subtle hint of everything in it without overloading one flavor profile over another. Combined with the fluffy jasmine rice and crispy duck, it was definitely the highlight of the meal.
Overall, I mainly review based on the taste of the food and this by far has exceeded my expectations as one of the best Thai restaurants in the Chicago area that I've...
Read moreWe order from this restaurant several times a month, and they just have been missing the mark every time lately. Each of the last 3 times we have ordered delivery, the curry comes without rice. We just received a bag full of food tonight with two entrees that need rice and lo and behold - there was no rice. They have also routinely given left out entrees or just outright delivered another person’s food. We do not order through Uber Eats, but we will start so that we can have a functioning customer service apparatus when Yasotorn inevitably gets our order wrong and refuses to offer any help or solution. If you order from here, make sure you have rice ready for when your food arrives because it will NOT be in the bag.
If you go into the restaurant, make sure you have nothing to do afterwards because the service is BAD and SLOW. Thankfully, if you are actually inside the restaurant they can’t get your order wrong (you might have to send it back, but eventually it will come out correct), but the trade off is woefully bad service.
Avoid like the plague. Better food and MUCH better service awaits you at Cozy Noodles on Maple when they open. The only reason to order Yasotorn is if Cozy is closed, and even then, maybe...
Read moreI sat on the patio upstairs because it was a lovely fall day. That was pretty much the only good thing about my experience here
The server was aloof and unfriendly, and unfortunately the quality of the food didn't make up for it. The coconut shrimp was over fried and tough. The spring rolls that i ordered were cold open faced rolls, not the deep fried kind that i was expecting. I ate one, but it didn't have much taste. Apparently i ordered the wrong thing. My fault, i guess. The crab rangoons were tasty and the Pad Thai tasted pretty good, but the noodles were overcooked.
I accidentally knocked over my glass of water and it spilled everywhere, pouring down onto me. I asked the server to bring something to wipe up the water ALL OVER my table, but she never did even though she continued to work nearby. Finally i turned up the edges of the vinyl tablecloth so it would stop the water from running into my lap! Very frustrating.
I have eaten here before and everything was delicious, with pleasant and friendly service. Hopefully they can get back to that, but i may...
