Tl;dr: A haven for the couth and uncouth alike, this gaming den is a home away from home for nerds of all colors, shapes and sizes.
While Magic: The Gathering is easily the most played game at Moondragon, boasting 20+ players on Friday nights, it welcomes all varieties of face-to-face games. (I enjoy MTG, D&D and Catan, and am almost always sure to find a game)
Open gaming seven days a week means you are always welcome to come down and play! They have a huge selection of card and board games freely available for use, a huge variety of snacks, and a huge group of reliable regulars.
Yes, some of the regulars can be a bit rough around the edges, but that is because Moondragon helps them drop their facades and be honest. In my experience, all they want is to play together, IRL, cultivating human relationships and expressing themselves in a forum made to help socially awkward caterpillars gain wings and fly. And if those bugs turn out not to be butterflies, but instead wasps, then Bossman is not afraid to excise them (after a couple warnings, for fairness' sake). No toxicity in this haven!
All in all, Moondragon is a place I recommend to anyone with a penchant for...
Read morePLEASE READ :) I meant to write this review a while back however I am now finally getting to it. I had visited this shop after simply looking all over other stores for "One Piece trading cards" and we had finally found some here, the staff was incredibly warm and receptive, and when we got to chatting we told them how I just wanted to get cards for my little brother but scalpers were cleaning out all other stores, the staff said that they made an effort to avoid selling large quantities to scalpers as sometimes the young ones could at least deserve a chance at getting some cards too, after chatting they even were kind enough to give two small free packs for me and my little brother to open. I would highly recommend supporting people as kind as this who are looking out for community enjoyment rather than just after profit for selling their stock. I know my girlfriend and I have already made plans to visit again. I would like to clarify that the hospitality and knowledge of what I needed and was looking for was more than enough to warrant a future visit even without any free gifts, that was just an extremely...
Read moreEdited: After a negative experience here a year ago (2022) I revisited to pick up some newer PF 2E books. My review has been edited based on my latest visit.
Wanted to get acquainted with my local gaming store so I stopped buy to pick up some DnD books and check out the interior/calendar for any pick-up games.
For a smaller store, they seem have a good selection of the basics and the front shelves were easy to navigate, however with 5-6 people inside it can feel cramped. It is possible they have gaming tables in the back for more room.
Pricing on the wargames and DnD materials were pretty standard as I have seen elsewhere and the shop sells some small food items which is always appreciated.
Location is hard to find as it is on the backside of a strip mall, but there is plenty of parking and a brewery next door for the possibility of "after-game drinks".
The staff were quick to offer assistance with locating what I was looking for and confirming the booked were the "newly remastered" editions.
I recommend the store for a quick shopping trip to pick up some materials for your games and will be...
