Hawaiian Sun BBQ — Restaurant in Everett

I ordered the chicken katsu w/ rice + mac salad and a spam musubi. As a Chamoru I'm hard to impress with anything called BBQ, stateside.

I'm going to tell you right now, this place is SOLID, che'lu. 🤘

The damn plate nearly 'broke da mouf' cuz. The musubi is made fresh to order and the teriyaki spam is grilled to perfection.

I knew I was in deep shit when I took my first bite. There I was in the parking lot chowing right in front of these chicks at the threading salon, looking like a total dork as I made love to my meal.

Their katsu sauce is homemade, the katsu is expertly crafted and last but not least their mac salad is so good and not one hint of that goddamn celery the statesiders trash their mac salad with.

I literally got my food to go and did not make it out of the parking lot. It's gone par it's gone. And I only paid $15 what kind of sorcery is this?

2025 this is next door to Enas wigs so stopped in. Ordered the mini huli huli chicken. There were lots of takeout orders and customers while I was waiting for the food

no wonder it's delicious and reasonable. It was so wonderful to have such tender chicken today I wanted the Hawaiian teriyaki version cuz I wanted to give it a try

and I really prefer this over the Japanese version which is a lot heavier soy-based this was much lighter and full of flavor. Really good dish the mini version comes with macaroni salad and one scoop of rice. Just perfect to eat all in one sitting . No leftovers. You can get other main dishes as side dishes for very reasonable price. Still wish they had take out menus.

2023 Our taste buds were still craving delicious food from sweet and short, so we went in search of more, and ended up from Hawaiian Sun. Got the combo meat platter and Sun special fried rice for tomorrow and egg rolls for tonight.

Not recommended. The food here was sub par at best, though the service was excellent. The menu is fairly bare bones and fails to describe their dishes properly. Couple that with extremely poor pictures of the food and you really don't know what you're going to get. I ordered the meat trio combo (short ribs, chicken, and one other item, I believe bbq beef) and it came out on a plate, all piled on top of each other. Two the side was a scoop of white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. Neither is worthy of writing home about. Admittedly, I'm a KC native so I know and love BBQ and hold it's execution to a high standard. BBQ tastes are very specific to the location you grew up in, so my preferences may not align with Pacific Northwest or Hawaiian experiences.
