I am a member of this planet fitness and I come quite frequently. Today was the worst day that I’ve had at this location. Now I usually have no issues as I’m very quiet and keep to myself when I’m working out. I am unsure of what this particular “managers” name is but she was extremely disgusting in how she approached me and handled a situation. I’ve never seen her at anytime when I come to that particular gym. I had arrived at the planet fitness sometime before 10 am and checked in using the mobile app. I was greeted at the door by one of the male management members that I’ve seen before. Sometime after 10 am closer to 11 am, I stepped out to grab a water bottle from my trunk to refill my gym bottle. I came back in and stood at the table, with my head phones on to refill the bottle. A young lady, who was washing the windows as I was exiting, tapped my shoulder hard (without my permission) to get my attention and stated, “I didnt see you sign in.” I informed her that I stepped out to get water but that I had been there since a little close to 10 am. She asked my last name, I gave her my full name. She says she’s going to look it up. I proceed to go into the locker room to put my keys back into my bag. As I’m in the locker room having issues with my lock, she comes in aggressively with a nasty disposition and says, “you need to come back out here and check in because you didn’t check in.” I said ok. I then came out to try to ask her if she would be able to see it on my phone and help me with the lock. She kept walking telling me no and I needed to come sign in. Instead of staying to be disrespected further, once I got the lock opened, I just gathered my things to leave so it wouldn’t be an issue because she was already being rude to me. As I was leaving, I asked another young lady would she be able to vouch for me as I asked her for assistance when I got there and she said yes. I see the “manager” looking for me as I’m walking to the front and I wave her down to tell her I’m going to the desk. She comes back to the desk and I have my phone out to show I checked in and to have the other management confirm I was there. He did. She then asked me my name again and I told her the same thing as I did the first time, she claims she misheard me but never asked for clarification. It then became an even bigger issue because her tone was very condescending as she kept saying she didn’t see me check in. Her tone got loud and I got loud and we were going back and forth. Confrontation was already fueled when she put her hands on me. Words were exchanged and as I was leaving, she began yelling, “get out.” I was already leaving. She stated it was her duty to protect the people inside the gym but if I was such a threat, why not contact the authorities? Why did I have to contact them if I was such a threat and she had to protect the other members? I then sat in the parking lot for about 10-15 minutes and contacted Rocky river police department to make a statement because I am going to corporate for the embarrassment and overall disrespect from their employee because above all else, she should’ve NEVER touched me. Headphones or not. That was an invasion of my privacy and when I asked her for assistance in the locker room, instead of being rude when she didn’t see me with any belongings at the door and the fact I was trying to retrieve my belongings to leave, this could’ve been avoided.    Read moreI have been a Planet Fitness Black Card member since July 2022. My home club has been Rocky River for the durations of my membership and I have visited multiple other locations. The Rocky River club is by far the best Planet Fitness location that I have been to. What sets Rocky River apart from the rest is the excellent staff who are welcoming, supportive, and eager to help. Two employees that stand out from the rest in my opinion are Deleon Jackson and Dasha LaPoint. I can honestly say that they have been instrumental in my fitness journey, contributed greatly my success, and honestly, kept me coming back when I’ve felt discouraged.
Deli is a ray of sunshine regardless of whether it is super early on a weekend morning or in the middle of the night. Deli is one of the first staff members that I met when I joined PF and has been very influential in my fitness journey. I missed her dearly during her maternity leave and am glad to see her smiling face behind the front desk when I arrive each day.
Dasha is a wealth of information. Her technical background has been very helpful with respect to answering fitness questions, supplying me with advice/information when asked to better my workout, and explaining concepts that were foreign to me in a way that I can understand. I appreciate Dasha’s direct approach and her patience in respectfully assisting a beginner like myself.
Brian (night time employee) has been excellent as well. I do not typically workout during his shift but when I have he has been very friendly and super helpful.
The upgraded equipment at the Rocky River location is also awesome and I can also say that it is the cleanest gym that I’ve been to. The other PF’s in the area an also clean but housekeeping seems to be a high priority in RR.
The only thing that the RR PF is lacking for me is a Fitness Trainer. Fitness classes were one of the main reasons that I joined PF. I worked with the 3 trainers that worked at RR previously. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent working with them. I, along with the others I used to take classes with would really like to see a fitness trainer at RR in the future. I froze my PF membership recently to pursue my fitness goals at the YMCA because they offer classes and training but I quickly returned to PF. The YMCA was terribly unclean in comparison to PF and in all honesty, I missed the RR PF staff.

   Read moreI received TERRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE and was CHARGED EXTRA. I had a 12 month membership and I called to inquire how to end my membership since my new apt. complex had a gym. I was informed that it would automatically end unless I renewed it. I specifically asked if I needed to end it in writing and I was informed, no it would end on its own. However I was billed on the day after my membership ended. I called Planet Fitness, and was told that I needed to talk to a manager and they would arrive in an hour and I left a message. Six hours passed and I never received a call back. Thus I called again and was informed that the manager had just left. I left another message and was told I would receive a call on Monday. The manager, Alex, did call me on Monday. I inquired as to why I was billed for a month after my membership had ended. She informed me that I did have to cancel in writing. I told her that I was incorrectly informed about the cancelation policy. She said that it did not matter, that unless I had cancelled by the 11th of the month I would automatically be charged for another month past my 12 month membership. She said that there was nothing I could do about being charged for another month since I would not have been able to cancel on the 11th of the month because of the billing process. She never apologized for the fact that I was incorrectly informed and never made an attempt to right the wrong that had happened. I am extremely unhappy with how I was treated. I contacted the corporate office and I never received a response. I dropped off a letter in writing to end my membership so that I was not charged another month past my 12 year membership and I was again told that I did not have to drop off a letter in writing.
