Was shopping for a firearm on 6/2/2018 and pretty much experience the worst customer service from the hunting section or firearm area. I wanted to see a pistol so the first employee arrived and showed me a handgun and pretty much just put it back and went to assist another customer so pretty much he just blew me off for another customer. the second employee was very helpful on finding me the perfect firearm. so I selected one and went through the FBI check and passed.to filled out the form took me over 30 mins and the background took only 3 mins. reason it took me 30 mins. was I had to show where I lived in Google maps had to place an x and circle on this and that. like come on man!! I filled out the FBI form just run my background. so I passed and the employee had to have the manger verify the sales so he called for one and was directed to another manger, so he went over to his manger and he pretty much ignore the employee. I waited for over 20 mins ready to pay and leave but nothing so I became upset and just said never mind ill go somewhere else. went to the front to pay for my son fishing gear and the wife fishing licenses. I was still upset and didn't want anyone else to experience the rude customer service so I requested to see the manger, they called the same manger that ignore the employee to the front, so I was up set and asked him are you going to sale me a firearm or not?...., I been waiting for over an hour. he apologize.......so if you going to buy a firearm take your business to big R or local pawn shops they will...
Read moreYou're going to get so lost in this store, for hours. Browsing to your hearts content. I can't ever go in without getting sidetracked, every way I look there is something I want & am interested in learning about.
Also, I would say that my knowledge of the items they carry is above average, well above. However, the staff are on top of their game and always provide super friendly, very informative help (now I'm not saying I've never come across an employee who clearly thinks they know it all while actually only knowing the basics) but for the most part the staff is at an expert level of knowledge. Which is nice, because if your simply browsing for something new or just want their opinion your going to have a good discussion.
Also in terms of items they carry, well if you can think it, they have it. Honestly you should probably visit their website before visiting & plan out what your going to be going for. Because with the endless options you might end up missing items that you would of like to know that they had available but you just didn't see it.
I come here personally for all my practice-ammo supplies (I do prefer other places for self-defense rounds) But I also get lots of other basic outdoor gear. And it's a store I never get sick of just stopping in on to browse for a bit.
To sum all this up

Read moreI’m not a happy long time customer! I ordered a rotary fly tying vise on 4/21/24 and I drove 2 hours to pick my online order and when I got to pick my order, they brought out was unacceptable. The vise did not come in its original seal packaging. It was delivered from another store, which they wrapped in literally trash. The vise looked used and I know when you buy anything new it come with paper work (manual, , accessories, warranty, etc), but what another Sportsman sent was probably a used and turned in by another unhappy customer. I took pictures of the packaging and the store manager at the Farmington NM store didn’t have an explanation or offer me any options. This is very concerning and disappointing. I was so upset that wrote to the SW customer service as soon as I left the store, which was within 5 mins, that’s how upset I was. It takes years to build a good customer relationship, but it only takes a few mins to lose a loyal customer.
Update: 5/16/24 Today a member from the Sportsman’s Warehouse management team reached out to me and I was glad I got an actual call back and they explained what had happened and clarified some questions. Happy to say that SW took ownership of their mistake. I’m glad that I’ll continue to be a...
