ABSOLUTE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. The manager's name was Chino, I believe, and he should be replaced at the absolute least and here is why. I placed a call-in order last night and specifically left a name for pickup since the person picking it up would not know the order. The lady speaking then hung up on me after saying she had the name even though my call was not finished as I needed the total. 45 minutes later, food arrived and I found 2 meals- neither of which were even close to what we ordered, 3 large cups of salsa, 5 bags of chips, and a regular cheese dip. I called to tell them we had the wrong order and was told that it was our fault because they read the order to the person picking it up and he said "sure". When I told her that's why I gave her a name and said he wouldn't know the order her reply was "Oh, well, I didn't write his name down." She then told me the correct order was still here and I could come get it if I wanted to.
I was forced to drive the 15 minutes to the restaurant when I wasn't ready to go out (which is why someone else was picking up the order) and go get my food. The food was then cold and they said they would refund the total and give me the cold food. When I told them cold food was unacceptable she called her manager and preceded to have a conversation in Spanish. Then the manager didn't want to hear my side because "she just told him". I told him that's not gonna work with me and told him any. I told him I wanted the meal complimentary and made fresh because not only was the mistake completely on them but they were also very rude about it- he flat out said he would not do that. He offered a fresh meal with a $10 discount or cold food for free. When I mentioned again the huge mistakes on their end and that we are loyal customers he said "well, if you're regulars you know we don't make mistakes". Are you kidding me?? A simple apology and fresh food would have been fine. We at least would have returned. So- if you'd like it I have a $10 coupon for a restaurant that I wouldn't even recommend to my worst enemy. The food is delicious when warm- no one can argue that. The service, however, is extremely important and is the absolute worst and because of that I will not...
Read moreMy friends and I went on a girls night out. Our waiter was SO kind, funny, helpful, & respectful of our night out as we don’t get to see each other as much. I wished I had his name or else I would post it to this review! Food was always great. Well seasoned. We go for the drinks, chips & dip! But we also decided on a good meal as well. Kudos to our waiter! I hope we get him every time! The only thing that is discouraging is that every time we hang out there another worker will come along and start taking things off our table. Then after 10 minutes he will come again and keep coming with attitude to get us to leave. What he fails to know is we don’t skimp when it comes to tipping. We know they could be bringing in more sales for that table but we TIP greatly to pay for time spent at that table or any table when we do come. I’ve taken a break on going to this restaurant because of it. It’s been at least 4 month break only to go back this past week to have them do it again. Sadly, I’m going to have to take another break and go back to the other restaurant as they know we come to gather-eat-enjoy-and tip for the use of our table. The three stars are for the atmosphere because when there is aggression coming from other staff, you can’t enjoy your meal- and you lose the excitement of being with friends. We chose you because of the food. But the choice is to be able to enjoy it...
Read moreMy wife and her family used to go here literally EVERY Sunday after church when she and I were dating and engaged.
Once we moved back here in 2013, we restarted the tradition. It stayed that way probably until 2017 or 2018. We then started noticing that the food quality was slipping a little, but prices were going up and the service was not as good.
So slowly but surely we stopped going here as much. We've recently picked it back up as it's convenient for us to stop at since we live close by now and have changed churches.
I don't know if the pandemic just totally transformed things for Viejo, but it's not even close to what it used to be. Service is mediocre at best, and I'm being kind with that. Most of the staff is entirely unfriendly and seem to care very little about working there. There is one server there that we really like, but we never get sat with him.
The food is usually pretty good lately, but the prices are absurd for the lack of service. My father-in-law usually picks up the tab for me, him, my wife and three children (who share two kid's portions usually) and it's near $100.
We want to keep going here, but may eventually just go to El Matador only (where you get better service in a cleaner,...
