Top notch customer service and very knowledgeable. We booked a full day guided climb with NRMG in New River Gorge National Park and it met and exceeded all our expectations. I can't recommend them enough. Nina, our guide, was a wealth of knowledge about climbing, and the area, and rock climbing in the park. She was great teaching and helping me and my teen climb - she's great with kids, asking good questions. The reservation, meet up, and day of climbing were all well organized and communication was excellent. It was great value for the money paid. We climbed some incredible rock faces and my teen was stoked to have accomplished so much in our day of climbing, Nina made it fun. The amount of time was perfect, about 8-4:30 to get a full day of climbing in and still have fun. The town of Fayetteville is cute and would like to go back and explore, including the NRMG store. Everyone is laid back and helpful. Like I said, their customer service it top notch, I hope they are in business for a long time! We can't wait to get back down to West Virginia and climb with NRMG again!!!

BEST GUIDED CLIMBING IN NRG - my girlfriend and I had a perfect experience with Tyler, our guide, and made some great memories. Tyler was an incredibly skilled, knowledgable, patient, and encouraging instructor and guide. We did the two day gym to crag top rope course, and we were exposed to some of the best routes and views NRG offers. We climbed a variety of routes with varied features from crack climbing to arĂȘte routes, and everything in between. This was my first time truly climbing outdoors and Tyler and New River Mountain Guides made it an unforgettable experience. In addition to the great climbing, Tyler also provided great instruction and safety training for when we want to make the transition to climb outdoors on our own. Try to book during the week so you have the crag to yourself! Great experience and we will definitely be coming back. Awesome!!

I had a great experience with NRMG. I climb indoors pretty regularly and try to get outside with friends when I can, but had never utilized a guide service before. With NRMG it was easy for me to specify the type of day I wanted to have, the kinds of climbs I was excited about trying, and the intensity level I was looking for. My guide for the day, Nina, did an outstanding job meeting me where I was at in terms of skill and comfort level, working with the conditions we had available (it had rained the previous evening so some routes were still damp in the morning), and was patient with me while I flailed on some routes that were a little above my sending capacity! All in all, I had a wonderful day climbing and recommend NRMG for your next climbing trip!

We did a 2 day guided trip with New River Mountain Guides. Our guides were Patrick on our first day and Nina on our second. They were AWESOME.

Patrick took us to Sandstonia for a great day of top roping, getting a feel for the rock, and trying a variety of styles of climbing here. He also took us through ground school on setting up/cleaning anchors to help reinforce things we learned prior, but haven’t really had a chance to put to use. He was super informative about going through the different bolting/cleaning/general climbing ethics of this area, since it’s different from where we’re from. He also showed us a great app for birding. He was thorough, educational, and overall really encouraging when I was trying to work my way up the rock. Cool guy and apparently a really cool DJ too. Note: we did not play music or sound pollute the crag. This was just a fun fact I learned.

Nina took us to Lower Meadows on day 2 to help us practice lead climbing and cleaning routes. She also reviewed trad placements with us and we were able to practice a variety of things on Baby Trad. I’m now obsessed with chicken head rock formations because of her. Then we went to Junkyard to end the day top roping so we could just see more climbing areas. She also taught us a lot about the different plants/trees in the area here. Overall she was super energetic and really supportive. A great hype person. Everything you’d want when you’re trying new things or trying to push yourself.

You could tell both really love climbing and really enjoy guiding at New River. Would recommend planning a day with this guiding company and if we ever plan another trip here, we’ll definitely work...

I came down to WV with one goal in mind for our trip (I had my son with me), and the one non-negotiable part of our trip was that we were going to hire a guide and go top-roping. This had been my one next step goal for climbing since I started bouldering indoors 2 years ago; I wanted my son to experience this too, as I had not been exposed to the climbing world till much later in life. The first company I had contacted miscommunicated with me, then promised to call me back to reschedule at a later time, and I never heard from them again. I was worried that I wouldn’t get to go, but then I found New River Mountain Guides. I’m so glad that the other company fell through, because we had the owner, Jeff, as our guide; he was fantastic and helped make our climbing experience perfect. He brought us to the perfect spot for our needs, with routes both easy enough to climb for new/young climbers, but also with a variety of climbing options (chimney, arĂȘte, etc.), and some just taxing and challenging enough to help us feel accomplished! Jeff offered a wealth of knowledge and humor, and was so good with my son, I didn’t have to stress while climbing that my son (on the ground while I was up) was too much to handle; Jeff was great with him, so much patience! Thank you for helping me achieve my first tangible climbing goal out of the gym, and for helping to give my son the climbing bug! 😁 Any future guiding in the area will absolutely be...
