Stopped by here for lunch after a morning hike in New River Gorge. We got here around 2:30pm on Sunday of Fourth of July weekend and the place was packed! We were told the wait would be 45min-1 hour, unless one of the two high top tables in the bar area opened up. Luckily we were able to snag one of those within 2min of walking in the restaurant, and took our name off the waitlist.
The four of us settled on a large pie and a large salad to split. The large Greek salad was delicious and more than enough to split as a side to our pizza. I've never had a Greek salad with banana peppers in it, so that was a nice twist. The speciality pizzas range from $24-29 for the 16 inch, and are densely packed with their listed toppings. We decided on a half classic half chicken guoda pie. Our waitress told us that the chicken gouda is a crowd favorite, while the street corn pizza is an employee favorite. I personally preferred the classic over the chicken guoda. The classic has a great mix of toppings, with pepperoni and sausage, complemented by a few veggies and banana peppers and a delicious tomato sauce. The chicken gouda I found to be a bit to heavy with all the cream and cheesy toppings, but maybe that was just a result of me eating that slice second, when I was already a bit fuller.
The place is huge, and seems newly built and very clean. There is an outdoor covered patio dining area, as well as a play area for kids. In the entry area there were pool tables and arcade games, so definitely a fun place to hang out and grab some food and drinks with friends and family of all ages. My one critique would be that more bathrooms are needed for the size of the place. From what I could tell, there were only the three individual bathroom stalls for the...
Read morePies and Pints was one of the top recommendations I got when searching for food places around New River, so on my trip here, a friend and I had to check it out!
The Food: A friend and I decided to split a large pizza and some wings. We went with the "Steak and Mushroom Pizza" and the "Char-Grilled Hot Wings". the Steak and Mushroom pizza was absolutely delicious! Big pieces of cut up steak paired with the creamy white sauce and mushrooms made for a perfect pie. The large is really big, so splitting it up between two people left us incredibly full. The slices were cooked perfectly and the crust was nice and firm. The wings were also really good! You can really taste the char grill on the wings, which added that nice smokey flavor. It wasn't spicy, but paired with some blue cheese or ranch really elevated it.
The Service: Service was good! Staff were very friendly and attentive. This place can get really packed fast, so if you go during peak dinner time, you may have to wait a while. They do let you put your name/number down and will call when a table clears. But you can always walk up tot he bar for an open spot for faster service.
The Atmosphere: Very nice place to relax and have some great food/drinks. Definitely a very social atmosphere that is nice to spend time at. There's plenty of tables to sit at, and there's a section for people to wait for their turn. Parking is also a little limited as well.
Overall, a 5/5! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was very chill and relaxing, and the service was great! I'll be...
Read morePies and pints was recommended by some locals in the area. I wasn’t planning on eating out but lots of rain that day changed the grilling plans. I was skeptical about eating here because I don’t like pizza per say nor beer but I bit the bullet and gave it a shot and boy am I glad I did.
The pizza is not typical pizza fair. They are all specialty styles. The also offer interesting appetizers, sandwiches and other fare. I went with pork nachos for an appetizer, Mediterranean pizza for a meal, and chocolate peanut butter brownie terrine for dessert along with an unsweetened ice tea.
The nachos were simply delicious and my only complaint isn’t about the flavor or portion size but I wish there was more pork in them as it was very good. The pizza was also really good especially as it isn’t normal pizza sauce and cheese. I loved the flavors of the shrimp and artichoke. The thinness of the crust was perfect to me. The tea was good better than most unsweetened tea I’ve had. It didn’t have that weird artificial aftertaste that some have so that’s a positive in my book. Dessert was very decadent and rich. I had one bite and it was marvelous but I couldn’t eat more without the sheer sweetness giving me a headache or making me nauseous. My kid devoured the rest no problem.
All in all it was worth the visit and I see they have locations in multiple states and I have family heading towards Columbus Ohio soon so I recommend they...
