Let me begin by saying the two chairs that I ordered from Dwellings look great in my living room and I am happy with MY custom fabric selection and the end result. Unfortunately, that's the end of my positive experience with this store. The two sisters that own Dwellings could have cared less when I first walked into their store as a potential customer. I was not acknowledged by either of them. No welcome, no offer to help...nothing. Their associate Katie did eventually offer help, but the two of them didn't engage at all. I think I read somewhere that one of them is a designer??? Maybe their $150 consultation fee applies to in-store help as well?? Seems like a poor business practice. Anyway, Katie kindly helped and I took home 4 or 5 fabric books that day. A couple days later, I returned to the store having made a selection. I walked into Dwellings WITH AN ARMFUL of fabric books. The sisters were sitting at the table. NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE STORE. Again, no acknowledgement. No "Can I help you with those?", or "Did that help you make a choice?" Nothing. Not a word. I went and sat down with the fabric books. I sat there for approximately 10 minutes. Utter silence. They let me walk right by them and couldn't be bothered. I was about 30 seconds away from walking out of there when Katie came out from the back saying she didn't know anyone had come in. Should she take the blame when the owners fail to help customers in their own store? Inexcusable, IMO. Despite my frustration, I ultimately did make a decision and ordered two spindle chairs. This was on June 26th. Fast forward to mid-September. (12 weeks) No chairs. After a couple of phone calls to Dwellings to inquire about status, they got back to me to say there had been a quality control issue with the fabric and they were going to be delayed. (Essentially they had to start over.) Now I realize that was out of their control, but after that length of time, wouldn't you think that they would have checked on things with the manufacturer? NOPE. It took a call from the customer to find that out. Long story short, my chairs were delivered November 4th. 18 weeks and 5 days. 131 days. While I do acknowledge that they offered free delivery because of the delay, the consistently poor customer service, (particularly from the owners), makes it an easy decision to never purchase from...
Read moreWe purchased furniture from this company three months ago. With a 2 month lead-time, we were anxious to see this come in as our living room was completely empty.
Two months came and went and nothing... no phone call, email, text. We finally had to stop in and ask for a status update. When they finally got back to us we were told that there had been a backorder issue with our fabric and the couch was slated to ship the first week of August. Well, we waited patiently AGAIN until last week when I, ONCE AGAIN, had to call and ask for a status update. I was given the runaround about how the person in the store couldn't check on my orders (how calling a vendor, giving them a PO and asking for an update is something only two people can do boggles me). I called back later in the day for an update and was given the same excuse, I finally explained my situation and demanded a call back that day with an update. I was summarily ignored and as of right now, I have still not been given an update on my furniture.
I cannot, in good faith, recommend this company to -anyone- who is looking for furniture and even a modicum of...
Read moreJenny and Julie feel like family from the minute you meet them. That solid Midwest hospitality, from the moment you walk into their store, builds rapport/trust immediately! I was really drawn to the fact that they grew up in the business, went to college, and then loved each other so much (đ)they opened their own store, using their own expertise to work with only their favorite vendors. Once I had that knowledge, I knew that anything I saw was fair gameâall products were solid. I did have the sisters come to my new house to get their feedback on what I should do. When I went in for their presentation, I was in awe. I said to my own sister, âIs it crazy that they came to my house, asked a few questions, and I absolutely love everything they suggested? Like, am I foolish to sayâŚ.ok, letâs do it (without looking at a million options)with only a few minor changes?â The answer is, no, I wasnât foolishâI absolutely love how Dwellings has made our house feel like a home! You canât go wrong with the good...
