Skate Center Florence — Local services in Florence

My wife took my son to a birthday party at the Skate Center today. My older daughter was with her because she had another appointment to be at later. My daughter was not intending on skating but the Skate Center has a policy where they charged my wife for my daughter going in. She wasn't skating or participating in the party. She was just going to be there. I think that is ridiculous. Two different employees tried to justify this charge to my wife, with one of them compairing the charge like you have to pay to get into a club. If my daughter was skating, I could understand. My wife was very frustrated because she had to leave my son at the party and go to the bank for cash. There should have been some policy in place for exceptions for this rule. It was very frustrating to her and cost us more than we intended to pay. We will think twice before we attend any more parties at the Skate Center...

The atmosphere was great for all ages. Bathrooms need a deep clean and possibly updated. Admission, skate rentals, and concessions were fantastically priced, but I don't recommend the "slushy" as none of us could stomach the taste. Skates for rent are quite old, so I was thankful my kiddos had their own we had brought. I tried out a pair of rentals, and after 2 laps, I had to stop as they were just too loose, and I even got a half size smaller than my shoe size. Arcade style games were all working, which was appreciated since my youngest isn't a strong skater yet. Was disappointed to discover they no longer have the support guides for small beginner skaters. Hate to say it but it's getting too expensive when as parents we are buying the skates for our kids to use and they are literally walking in and paying 5 bucks an hour plus food and drink. It's just costing them business because we don't let our children go as much because the cost went up too much. If it wasn't so much when you bring your own skates we would be letting our kids go there there a LOT more. I understand if there was rental included and costs of maintaining the skates and all that but it's kinda getting too expensive for a kid to provide their own skates and walk in a spend 20-30 dollars in 2 hours.
