Oh my gosh, where to start? I met a cute Redhead June 5th, 1995. On November 25th of that same year I put a ring on the right left hand of the Queen. If you do the math quick, you realize that 2020 is 25 years into the future. So, I thought I had better come up with something special. Now, redheads, if you don't know, aren't really impressed by societal norms, so what to do...? Well, I had a crazy idea to have a custom watch built that don't work. Yep, I was going to pay good money for non functioning watch. But who would take on such a goofy endeavor, and more importantly, who would "get it", and be willing to undertake the task with the focus, love, and attention to detail a 25 year anniversary gift for a Redheaded Irish Queen deserves? I looked hither, yon, near, and far. And then I looked to an area known for it's wealth of creativity and ingenuity. Surely a town burgeoning with craft brewers would also offer up talent in other creative areas. So following my love for good brew, I found Darvier!! I shared my hairbrained idea with them and they loved it!!! So Jessica called, we talked, and then we talked more, and then we looked at sketches, and then we talked and emailed and emailed and talked. And the whole time, I never once felt like I was in the wrong hands. Jessica, and the team went to work, and built exactly what my mind could picture but what my brain said could probably not be. And then came the day, and... WHAAALAAAHH!! There it was! Like, in real life. I had in my hands, "a cheap watch from a crazy man, floatin down canal. It doesn't use numbers or moving hands, it always just says now. Now you may be thinking that I was had, but the Queen's watch is never wrong. And if you have trouble, the warranty says, breathe in, breathe out, move on." Now...Darvier is not floating down canal st, but they were just crazy enough to take on the task of building, from scratch, a non functioning watch based on a Jimmy Buffet song, to help a simple trucker, with more imagination than talent, present the perfect unique gift to his Queen on their 25th. And they nailed it! It was more exquisite and beautiful than I could have imagined. They truly have taken the idea from my head and turned it into reality. Jessica, you must be descended from Peter Pan or something, because you weild magic Girl. I'm trying to figure out how to include the picture... no idea. Damn. Shame, cause it is beautiful. Now, if you're reading here, you must be looking for a quality jeweler. These folks are everything that should mean, and nothing it shouldn't. I mean, read these reviews. Paragraphs are written, because we, the customers, are so happy. Normally, a google review is a few words, with the occasional story, but look, here most all of us can't shutup because they have attained excellence. The Queen is thrilled with her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had several pieces appraised at this store based on good reviews. The owner said that the appraiser was well knowledged and knew what she was doing. The general manager of the store told me to let her know if I have any discrepancies between the appraisals and what I know about the pieces. She said to go home and take a look at everything and call her back if I needed anything which is exactly what I did. I called three times before the owner of the store finally called me back a week and an half later and told me that this has nothing to do with him in his store because the appraiser is independent. I am fine with that and will take it up with the appraiser. The main disagreement between myself and the owner came up over one of the pieces having a broken green sapphire after I got it back. I went back and looked at the picture I took at his store when I dropped them off and it seems perfectly in tact to me. My jeweler said this is a $30-50 repair. The owner just didnāt seem like he wanted to hear negative feedback about my experience. Iām just being honest. If you donāt feel comfortable appraising something or itās outside or your appraisers wheelhouse, just tell the customer that. Donāt charge them for terrible communication, having the pieces for 5-6 weeks versus the 1 that was quoted, charge the same price to appraise 5 pieces that you quoted for ten. The list goes on but once again, no one is listening. If you want an accurate appraisal, I wouldnāt go here.
Update - I worked with every designer I sent a piece in for appraisal and told the owner this when dropping the pieces off. Any āresearchā could have been easily helped by calling the owner of the pieces. Ownersā excuses are invalid and once again, he made every point to make me feel like Iām in the wrong throughout this process. Take some ownership over poor communication. Iām not mad because I invested in one stone that your appraiser says turned out to be something else. Iām mad because she never reached out to the owner or me to ask who the pieces were made by or what was expected to be in them. I can give her the folkās information I bought the stones from, they donāt sell peridot as green tourmaline and they are world renowned sellers. New Era Gems. Look them up. I donāt think they are selling synthetic stones like your appraiser states. A piece I had $4200 invested into at wholesale cost, appraiser said was worth $2,100 retail and stated the stone was 4 carats when I weighed it before it went into the pendant at 7.94. Please explain why that would ever happen without a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you love your heirloom wedding band I would not recommend taking it to Darvier for resizing. I took my grandmother's band in to have it sized for me back in January. I asked if it would be possible to have it back in a week in time for our anniversary and if they could make sure that the original stamp stayed intact. I was assured both would be possible. The sizing took 3 tries and 3.5 weeks to complete because I was incorrectly sized for the wide band on the first visit, the second visit they did not resize me and just bumped it up a quarter size. The third visit they sized me again. It is still about a quarter size tight but after all that I did not want to size it again, as well as in the process of sizing it the original stamping was destroyed. The pricing of the sizing had also changed throughout the process, starting with being quoted at $78, they called me the first week and said it would actually be closer to $120, I was told the second adjustment was free, and then by the time I picked it up the price had increased to $181. I asked if they could put the stamping back in. They assured me they would and I called later to confirm the engraving when I was told that they don't need that info and can pull it from pictures they took when I originally dropped it off. When I returned the next week it was still missing half the stamp and I was told they would have to remove that in order to get the stamp in correctly. When I returned the following week, any trace of the original stamp was gone and they had somewhat reproduced it with laser engraving. When I asked if they could fix it to look like the original I was told that I would need the jewelers stamp, and that the laser engraving is the best they can do. Unfortunately, it does not look good at all on a ring that was made before laser engraving was even widely used; and now if I want it to resemble the original stamp I will have to spend even more money and time to get a custom ring stamp made to fix this mistake. It is an understatement to say that I am disappointed that nearly none of my expectations were met and it took 5.5 weeks to get it back. On the bright side, most of the employees were helpful and sympathetic to the situation and I think if I was having a custom ring made that I was not already emotionally invested in, the experience may have been different. The ring does look great on the outside with majority of the scratches buffed out and their metal worker was able to make the design match up, but because of the stamp and sizing issues I will not be...
