Bula! What an interesting place this is! I had no idea this is what the World of Kava Culture was about, or known it existed! What an interesting experience, and fun sense of community with the backstory of Kava Culture from Fiji & the Pacific Islands!
I'm so glad we came to check this place out! It was interesting to learn about Kava & Kratom, I had never heard of either, and their origin and I liked how it brings people together and we all cheers together & say "Bula!" in unison. Visually, I didn't know what to make of it, it just looked like actual muddy water, in a fun traditional coconut shell. Then actually drinking this new tea, finding a bit of bitterness to it, I do have to say Kava is an acquired taste, but very intriguing! Definitely need something sweet after the drink, like their pineapple slices. The way the Kava has an affect on the inside of your mouth, like a lidocaine from the dentist, tingling, was kind of alarming at first, definitely unlike any tea I've ever experienced!
I enjoyed the relaxing effects were like a nice calm that washes over your whole body from both the Kava we had as a group, and the individual drink I tried from the "Treat Yo Self" signature menu, the Mango Bango Dragon Tonic. I love a good Mango, and this came recommended by my bartender (Kava-tender?). He explained that you choose the type of Kratom you want by the kind of experience you would like; the Red, White or Green. From my understanding, the Red tonic was the most calming of the 3, the best for evening wind-down time with a sense of optimism and well-being chillness, or even as a sleep aid for insomnia & painkiller for physical pain; the White Kratom tonic for the most alert & stimulant effect for alertness & concentration, and the Green for somewhere as a hybrid of the 2 & in the middle, calm but social, a relaxed social experience. So with my Mango Bango, I tried the middle-type of Kratom tonic, and went with an infusion of the Green. (apparently though, in general Kratom consumption everywhere the red vein is sold more than the green and white vein combined?!) It's made with Mango nectar and apparently their most popular elixir! My Kava-tender added a little CBD oil, a lavender flavor, which then I think took over the flavor of the drink, and being sat too close to the oil diffuser filled with peppermint, I couldn't really pick up on the Mango, but not wanting to make a fuss at all, nor not really knowing what to expect, I settled on just drinking it as-is and experiencing it as it was prepared.
It was very cool to explore their whole lounge area, all the art work and comfy seating, soothing oil blend smells, earthy vibe, gave off a very chill atmosphere. I want to go back and just chill on the couches, and play games with friends! What an interesting place! They sell loads of CBD oil products, which is great (sidebar FYI: nothing intoxicating in CBD oil, it is different from the cannabis part "THC", the psychoactive part, CBD is just for healing and mega anti-inflammatory properties!)! There is a little outdoor seating area as well, games and even pinball in the mini-hang out room! The one odd/off-putting thing was the bathroom key on a hook by the bar, which is necessary for each person to use for the communal hallway bathrooms... so despite there being several stalls inside the bathroom, each person has to wait to get the key to open the door.. a problem if someone is already inside...There has to be a better solution to this, it's odd & awkward for a number of reasons, especially those with Chronic Illnesses, but I am sure that is just one thing from being a newer establishment in that particular building that I am sure will...
Read moreThis is my least favorite Kava Bar in SWFL. It used to be my favorite when it was next to the library, but in its new location it's one I prefer to avoid.
In the new location the music is ridiculously loud, topped only by the types of guests it attracts. It attracts guests that want to be the center of attention at all times (not just casual socialites, but loud guests), that think they own the place and get to live there. Usually with their phones that try to make their videos of screaming kids even louder than the music. I guarantee it, every time someone will be in there with a loud phone or yelling, totally disregarding other guests. The solution that the kavatenders usually try, is just make the rap or rock music they play even louder, so you can't hear yourself think, but hopefully won't hear the obnoxious guests.
On top of that, I see that this is the standard place where people go with their lunch, even if they don't buy a drink. I recently saw a family of two adults and three kids have their McDonald's takeout and McDonald's drinks take up an entire table to eat their food like it was an extension of McDonald's . They didn't buy a single drink. Just used up the space.
It's not chill or relaxing at all, unlike what is expected by a place where you drink a drink for peaceful relaxation, or to rest your anxieties. It's also in a dangerous area at night.
Go to a coffee shop to relax, not this place. Or better yet, check out one of the other Kava places in the area. This is just for people who would prefer for night clubs to be open during the day.
There's no manager onsite, so the inexperienced employees just do their best alone in a dangerous area with bad guests. Also the employees from the original location all left, so there's no senior kavatenders to teach them about the culture or values, or how to deal with obnoxious/dangerous guests. It's obvious they're...
Read moreAs a seasoned kava enthusiast, I wasn't excited when I learned Kava Kulture serves Solomon kava which I don't tend to like. Personally I prefer Vanuatu. However, my experience was so extraordinary, thanks to the exceptional service I received from their kavatender, Shana that it didn't matter.
From the moment I stepped in, Shana welcomed me with warmth and genuine hospitality, instantly making me feel like a part of their kava family. She epitomized what kava culture is all about – fostering connections, conversations, and a sense of belonging. Despite being a stranger, she invited me to join in sharing stories and laughter with newfound friends.
Shana's knowledge about their products was impressive, and her passion for kava was evident in the way she served each customer. Her attention to detail and personalized service exceeded my expectations, leaving a lasting impression on me.
I was so impressed with the experience Shana provided that I made a point to return when I was in town again. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I shared the experience on my Kava podcast, KavaSpills, which is a testament to the exceptional service I received. It's not often that a kava bar earns the coveted KavaSpills stamp of approval, but Kava Kulture, thanks to Shana, certainly did.
If you are looking to enjoy exceptional service and genuine hospitality, look no further. If you're lucky enough to have Shana as your Kavatender, you're in for...
