My wife and I visited today, and the store was a delight. I have to say that I am definitively not a frequenter of artisan chocolate shops, and have no clue whatsoever about what constitutes a good one. That being said, here was my experience. The shop was clean and tidy, small but with an efficient use of space. The window tinting was unique and clever. They had samples out, which I appreciate. The people manning the counter were extremely helpful, and walked us through each and every item we asked about. The chocolates themselves were works of art. I'm not even saying that in a pretentious foodie way. I mean these are pieces that really and truly look like sculptures out of a modern art museum. I was in disbelief that items that had such beautiful colors and sheen could even be eaten.Oh yes they can. We bought a passionfruit bar to split. It was, unquestionably, one of the best desserts that I have ever eaten. The flavors melded together wonderfully, though each major flavor was still distinct and wonderful. The few times I've gotten chocolates from stores that claim to be like this one I find them to be over-engineered and grossly sweetened. The person who made these knows exactly what they're doing. For the time being this will have to remain a special occasion kind of place for us to visit, but I know that it will be a fantastic store...
Read moreBeautiful, delicate morsels of special flavor combinations that are gathered beneath a tiny galaxy dome of painted mirror chocolate in all colors and in unique shapes. I suppose the bonus is that with the flavors being so intense and the size of each chocolate so small, you could not feel guilty if you indulged in these culinary trinkets every now and then. What I liked is the science lab cleanliness of the store, the careful displays and the smartness of it all. There is a sheet with pictures and descriptions so you can browse on paper as well as in person, and then fill out the page with your order quite easily. Prices are on that sheet, so another bonus is not having to ask how much those itty bitty choco arties will cost. Not cheap. However I would say these lovelies are perfect as gifts, large or small, and will impress any well-schooled palate. Note that some flavors are unusual, to say the least, and may not appeal to everyone. Just keep that in mind and go for what works for your favorite...
Read moreThis is a great location with a fantastic staff. I was excited to purchase the new stock. Came in for the banana but they already sold out. Took home the dark chocolate orange instead. I am a HUGE fan of the bon bons. However, I am slightly disappointed in the lack of orange flavor that this orange had to offer. I would say that the hazelnut was a bit overpowering and the orange was lost. Not a complete waste of my money considering that the chocolate itself was fantastic and the hazelnut cookie crumb also delicious. I would highly recommend that you visit and try for yourself. Kate offers a wide variety of flavors capable of pleasing many pallets and the candies truly are pieces of mini art. The perfect place to pick up the perfect gift for any...
