Peninsula Scout Shop — Local services in Foster City

Horrible customer service!!! The only reason this store is not out of business is because they have a built-in customer base. But, that shouldn't mean they should rest on their laurels and not attempt to be helpful and provide customer service! I had tried to order on the website, but the sizes I needed for my son were not available. Hours posted online or on phone message are not accurate. My husband and I have made multiple attempts to go to this store within the hours posted only to find out that the store was closed. Calling them doesn't help. I tried calling to get them to put aside items for my son, so I could do a quick pick-up as I knew I was not going to have a lot of time to shop. They were reluctant to do so and was told I could email them the list... No response to emails. I emailed them twice and never received a response. Hours are not suitable for parents. 10a-1p and 2-4p, closed on weekends. It is difficult to get there by 4pm, but I made it at 4pm and was turned away. No willingness to even let me see if they had the item in the size I needed. It's disappointing that an institution like this is so disconnected to those who support the organization. We had a great experience at the Scout Shop this morning. The manager, Monica, is very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. We didn’t know what size shirt would be best and she brought out all of the options, explaining general preferences for youth versus adult sizes. She also didn’t hesitate to sew on patches for us, when they weren’t available pre-sewn, managing our expectations about how long it would take. The shop is beautifully organized; just as you would hope a scout shop would be. Five stars...
