Arts Festival Goer Had I not been to a wide range of arts festivals I’d give the Rio Grande Arts & Crafts Festival more stars. But for an arts festival that proudly declares 34 years I was unimpressed. I appreciate the tent’s protection from the sun, and the band provided a nice atmosphere but the crowd and the traffic was chaotic and in need of better (and kinder) management. Although after witnessing a woman driving on the wrong sure of the road I can understand why the majority of the traffic controllers seem frustrated. It’s hot and traffic is hard to direct. The parking garage is free though, and that allows more money to be spent on art. Which by right of a festival, is pricey. However, everyone in my family was able to find something they liked for under $40. Along with a potty break before getting stuck in traffic trying to get in the event, I recommend attending with an open mind and remember it’s hot, crowded, and expensive. But most art festivals are.
