Okay, I'm tired of seeing this place deteriorate more and more year after year. After Decades of me driving by this place, I asked myself why do they never spend an extra dollar on updating their signage at all? They never spend anything on their Landscaping either, just a bunch of dead trees in front. And not only this but inside in the summertime is unbearable. For God's sake, it's a bakery and you don't even provide your workers with air conditioning? You're still using swamp coolers in there? Stop being stingy and invest a little something back into your business. Have a little pride. Stop being "codos"! Lol As for the food, the bread is decent but I resorted to other bakeries like Eldorado or El Super just because these people don't even care to keep flies off of the bread they just trap them inside the showcasings.

While I would have LOVED to have dined here, alas my ol' high school buddy is a tenderfoot, and I usually steer clear of spicy options for his sake. But he certainly has no problem with their amazing Bolillos. They are far more dense then you may be used to, but are versatile; we've made garlic bread for an Italian din-din, toasted it to make breadcrumbs for meatballs, and paired them with amazing Tulley's deli meat. All deliciously toothsome. Front counter gal was cool, and while we ordered 6 rolls, when we opened the bag at home we had 10. A very nice bonus from her. Look past the appearance of this joint, and grab some of these beauties. Can't go wrong...

I did my usual search when moving to a new city, "best menudo in X". This seemed to be the overwhelming winner in terms of mentions, and Helen's Bakery did not disappoint. The menudo was top notch, and even if it hadn't been, I think their fresh baked bolillos, would have saved it anyway. Their menu is not big and their place is not flashy(though it does have a really cute charm to it), but their food is top notch, and as far as I'm concerned, that's all that really matters.

First let me explain something to everyone. This place just went through some renovation to some degree and or I can say alot of decluteration to the place. It has alot more room for dining but due to Covid the tables were spaced out more and it didn't seem like more people could dine in. Now, lets talk about the food. It is a bakery and it has alot of the common Mexican bakery items that I'm not educated to say and I'll say my apologies now. Let's talk about what I do know and that's the menudo, posole and the tamales 🫔. All of them I must say are delicious 😋. My favorite is the menudo. It comes with all the extras, onions, dried oregano and don't forget about the fresh bolios/the bread. You get a piece of bolio and dunk it into the juice of the menudo with a spoon full of menudo with the hominy and that makes it the perfect bite and repeat until it's all gone. So delicious!!! My wife got the posole and it was delicious too. They don't skimp on the pork meat thats in the posole either. I did get a taste of her posole and I wished that I had gotten both menudo and posole but then I would have made me a pig so I told myself I'll get it next time. Lastly the tamales are some of the best in town. There fat tamales with plenty of pork meat and red chile. My wife and I got one of those each to complete our meal 😋. We will be back for more sooner rather than later and I would recommend Helen's Bakery for everyone to enjoy 😉. Peace out folks...

Helen’s bakery has delicious homemade tamales and posole. Authentic as they can be with reasonably priced menu. Well… they don’t exactly have a menu… the items they have are written on a white board above the order window. And… I still haven’t figured out why they call it a bakery because there is never any bakery items anywhere. No cases of anything at all. I’ve been there at least five times this past year and I’ve yet to see any baked goods. I wish I can speak their language or I would ask them about it., I don’t know if you have to call in an order for baked goods, or if they have a menu that you could choose things from but they sure advertise that they have these items, but they don’t. It shall...
