The Lujan building at the fairgrounds (or Expo NM if you're new to the area) hosts the Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Fest, and turns into a coffee and chocolate themed indoor mercado, with booths representing a huge array of local and regional businesses. The hidden gem, though, is the people who work here; I had a panic attack and they helped me get somewhere quiet, gave me water, and checked on me regularly to make sure I was recovering, as well as asking what I needed in order to have a good time like anyone else. I hadn't at all expected such kindness because we'd had static trying to get onto the property at all due to an accessibility issue, but it made the whole situation so much more bearable that I was eventually able to calm down and enjoy the rest of the show.
tl;dr come for the event, come back because the people who work here are amazing. just don't come in through the flea market; anything held at the fairgrounds proper, you need to enter through the San Pedro gate or they'll try to charge you entry into the...

We could not hear what was being said over the noise of the room, it seemed like only one side of the speaker system was working. The little restaurant Hacienda del Rio was VERY over priced. They were charging $3.00 for bottled soda or water. Their Indian bread was not very good..too much oil flavor and they give fake honey. I recommend you eat before going or take your own food. This building best serves it's purpose during the State Fair for vendors but not for events like this with active participant....

Bathrooms, once nice, now hard to keep clean due to the age of the fixtures, broken stall doors, etc. Roof leaks aren't as obvious as they used to be, I suppose. Still way overdue.
Food venues need be expanded and have for years. It's fine when the fair is on, because there are dozens outside. Not so for the many other events. Overall sad and even embassasing for our state and it's taxpayers. Please notice and compare upkeep in Santa Fe...
