Escapology continues to prove why they’re the established industry leader in Escape Rooms across the United States with the opening of their new Sunset Walk location featuring 3 BRAND NEW, HIGH QUALITY ORIGINAL Escape Rooms not found in their Lakeland, Kissimmee, or I-Drive locations. In this visit, my party of 3 Day 1 Escapology Veterans played A Pirate’s Curse.. WOW! What an experience! A Pirate’s Curse is a totally new experience (not a reskin or rethemed room) that is so masterfully crafted in a way that all puzzles just make sense without requiring you to make LEAPS or BOUNDS to solve them while providing probably the most IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE we’ve ever seen (you’ll feel like you’re on that Cursed Ship). If I were to rank this one in difficulty, I’d put it at the level of “7 Deadly Sins” (another Escapology game you shouldn’t sleep on), which isn’t too tedious but still requires you to think a little bit harder to solve the puzzles without hints. Overall, every second of the game was thoroughly enjoyable. My team escaped with nearly 12 minutes left and only used 1 hint (we weren’t far off track either). Shoutouts to hostess RYANNE for making us feel very welcomed with her upbeat energy from the moment we walked in the door, RENAE the Game Master for allowing us to tackle the game completely unguided with no “nudges” or hints unless requested, and finally to manager CARTER for taking time to follow up with us at the end of the game to gather our thoughts and opinion of it. We look forward to trying the new games in the near future and will definitely be back. 11 out of 10 stars. WELL DONE SUNSET WALK ESCAPOLOGY TEAM!
Tips for future players from an Escapology Veteran: Request that your Game Master does not provide any hints or “nudges” unless you specifically ask. In my party of 3, we have an established ground rule upon entry that the person requesting the hint MUST provide a justifiable reason for the hint and MAJORITY must agree with them in order to receive the hint. It’s a risky way to play and requires clock management (we try to aim for 18 mins or less per room) but ensures that you’re in control of your party’s overall experience.
Previous Escapology Games Played: Shanghaied, Budapest Express, Narco, Th3 Cod3, Antidote, Cuban Crisis, Lost City, 7 Deadly Sins, Under Pressure, Mansion Murder, Arizona Shootout, Star Trek..
Future Games Yet To Be Played (at the time of writing): Scooby Doo, Batman: The Dark Knight Challenge, Murder on the Orient Express,...
Read moreThe room was Batman themed and seemed really cool. And it was still a fun experience and would go again since they are still new. This is in no way bashing as they are still new just our experience - But we were missing 1 very very important clue and without that clue you literally cannot figure out the next step. We continually had to ask for “hints” because I’m sure they assumed we had the paper(and assumed we were probably illiterate because that paper gave you the entire key to the problem) but we didn’t so every “hint” made absolutely no sense. Not only did we not have a very important clue the computer didn’t work which took up minutes in our time, some of the lock boxes weren’t locked and were just open so the other clues in other boxes made no sense since the boxes were already open, so your waiting for something to happen when it’s already done. In the last room one of the key pads did not work and I put in the code over 6 times and was told to push harder and that took a lot of time. The last thing was you cannot hear when anything opens. So when you get something right and unlock something in the last room you have no idea since there is no sound. (Which actually may be a cool factor just not suited for newbies)
It was still alot of fun, just some things seemed so frustrating and missing vital pieces to the game kind of messed up alot of things. When brought up to the game maker who was very nice and new, was very nonchalant about us missing important things or things going wrong since we still beat the clock I suppose. But we understand they are getting the hang of things and are still new and will go back when they’ve...
Read moreThe Star Trek room was definitely my least favorite escape room I’ve ever been in. Escape rooms typically have THINGS in them and clues and puzzles to figure out. This was just a dark, empty room with screens. Well, not even screens. We were told there were touchscreens but 99% of them were just backlit pictures on the wall.
Even the hints didn’t make sense because they were either a) grammatically incorrect and therefore incoherent or b) written in the jargon of the game, which also made no sense. There was something about filaments finding the “relay container.” What does that even MEAN? There was nothing in the room to use to figure anything out.
Some parts of the room seemed broken, too. There was a cord pulled out of the wall that said “do not remove.” Too late, I guess?
The theming was lacking, too (at least as far as we saw). I was excited for this room because we were supposed to be in outer space, but it was just dark and empty and boring.
We gave up after like 10 minutes because it wasn’t any fun. We told them we were leaving and they said they couldn’t refund us (we didn’t even ask) but the manager actually called us on the way home and gave us one anyway, which was nice.
Maybe the other rooms are fun, but I...
