PLEASE READ IF PURCHASING FIREARMS : I’ve used Dunham’s for years for firearms purchases, never had any issues aside from the occasional employee in need of an attitude adjustment. I went in recently to purchase a new firearm, after the dunham’s “mandatory minimum wait time at the gun counter of 30 minutes”, when I asked to see a specific rifle the employee behind the counter told me “I don’t know what any of these are. I just work here”. My initial concern was, if your employees are so poorly trained that they are unaware of the limited inventory they have, should they really be selling people firearms? After leaning over the counter and very carefully pointing out the exact rifle, I was denied purchasing said rifle due to having a paper ID after recently moving. After explaining to the clearly inexperienced salesperson, that state law allows for just about any legal document listing a current address to be used in unison with a valid ID to make firearms purchases (as it can easily be traced to WISDOT). Her response was “I don’t do that”. This was shocking, as I’ve purchased firearms with both paper IDs, as well as other legal documents listing my name, DOB & current address along with a valid ID with incorrect address listing. It would appear Dunham’s policy selectively side steps state laws when their employees don’t want to work. My advice, drive a little further and pay a little more to buy from a small shop of experienced individuals. Me and my usual FFL had a good laugh about this experience on the phone, he ordered me in my desired rifle & told me to bring my paper ID on over. Give your business to those who care...
Read moreI had never experienced such awful customer service via the phone. Previous to this conversation I’d never done any kind of business with Dunnams and I’ll say as an avid sportsman and after this experience I certainly never will.
I called three times consecutively and was told I would be transferred to their firearms desk. Three times I sat on hold for over five minutes before eventually hanging up. On the fourth try I did finally get through to someone who essentially hung up on me before I could get my question out. I realize how trivial this may sound but it really was a had to be there thing confirmed by the look of shock on my wife’s face as I had the conversation on speaker.
I can’t imagine what it would look like trying to get an actual issue solved/do any kind of effective business with how this interaction transpired. Forgive me, I’m not usually one to write reviews ESPECIALLY negative ones (as this is my first) but this kind of customer service is unacceptable. As business owner myself, I would be relatively...
Read moreJennifer .... you rock and are AMAZING! My friend and I met up for brunch and to go look for very specific firearms. We spoke with Jennifer and were informed(not surprised) the firearms were NOT in stock but to check back later after they received a large shipment. I decided to not return that day and ran other errand. My friend found what she was looking for at another location. Forward to next day. The husband and I decided to go to the range but once we arrived all lanes were booked for the afternoon. My husband decided to take me back to Dunhams to cheer me up. No more than five feet from the counter and I here hey guess what came in yesterday!? Jennifer remembered me and what I was looking for(which has been out of stock EVERYWHERE). She is knowledgeable and makes you feel welcomed. This kind of service is hard to find in big name stores. Keep doing what you do. This is my second firearms purchase from this location and will...
